I am 79 and have birth problems that left me with glasses from the age of 4. I was recommended for cataract surgery by my optician, Specsavers in Cowley Centre, East Oxford. The reception was fraternal and the actual operation, starting with my left and weakest eye, which I expected to be painful, was almost entirely painless. No more than a three second poke as the lens was inserted. The immediate after-op care was reassuring and I was able to take the bus back to Oxford quite safely alone. Within two days I could see remarkably well from my left. The blur was caused by my eye being able to see better than it has ever worked and my spectacle lens was interfering. From never having been able to see properly with my left eye, I could read the subtitles on TV! Within 2 days I had a call from the department to check on my health and was able to report I had used the anti-inflammatory drops as directed and had no bloodshot eye and no "grit in the eye" feeling. I was advised to see my optician and have the left lens popped from my specs, which I will do tomorrow. It could be that after a life of high prescriptive lenses, once I have had the right eye attended I might only need light t reading glasses. As I attended with patients as old as 92, I would recommend the treatment to anybody advised to undergo treatment. Best twenty minutes surgery - I was in the military for 20 years. I cannot speak highly enough of the Eye section in Cherwell hospital.

I had cataract surgery at site for eyes, performed by Mr Danjoux who I know to be a Director of this company, both eyes were operated on at a total cost of £6,600.00. My first operation was on my right eye, worst eye, this went well, my left eye not so well! After preparation for my second operation, left eye, I was wheeled into a waiting area where Mr Danjoux was looking over my file, I felt something was wrong as he seemed to take longer than the last time. Mr Danjoux, spoke with the prep nurse and handed over to her the boxed prescription and asked her to change it for another. After the eye operation I had to return for a check-up, the optician checked both eyes. Right eye no problem I could see the alphabet board, read almost all of it, I was very pleased. The left eye, I could not see any of the alphabet, the board was a complete blur, I became concerned. I was then called into Mr Danjoux, room, he mentioned that he was not happy with the prescription at the time and changed my prescription, now it seemed my left eye was very short sighted, this isn’t a bad thing, he said, see if my eye settles down any problems, I was to contact him. I did contact Mr Danjoux and visited him once again. Mr Danjoux was obviously not happy to see me, I could tell by his manner. I explained that I felt my vision was out of sorts, balance, Mr Danjoux suggested I get some glasses! I went on to explain that I could see reasonably well with my right eye, so if my left eye had a correction, although may not be perfect I’m sure I would be content with that. I told Mr Danjoux that when I cover my left eye, I felt my right eyesight was good, cover my right eye and sight very blurred. Mr Danjoux slapped his hand over his right eye and said is that good, no, slapped his hand over his left eye and said yes that’s much better. Mr Danjoux continued slapping his face several times, I was embarrassed and shocked. Mr Danjoux calmed down and explained that the prescription box is not always accurate. He looked at my file and calmly said the lens is thick enough for laser, I suppose he could do this for about £1,000 to cover costs. Mr Danjoux, suggested that I go think about this, let him know. I could not possibly have this man work on my eye again. I would like my eye tested and corrected somewhere else.

Was hassle free from start to finish ,. Doctor Naylor made me feel at ease and confident as he explained everything I needed to know, I had cataracts in both eyes with my right eye being barely able to read the top line of the eye chart , due to a lazy eye I’d had from birth , so not a simple job by any means.Dr Naylor assured me my eyes would be massively improved. Both the ops went really well, and now I’m able to drive with out my glasses !!! Couldn’t thank him enough. Would highly recommend him !!!

Mr Stephen Naylor was my specialist. The treatment I received by him and all the staff was excellent. Everything was explained to me fully and so when I went for the surgery on my eyes, considering that this was one of my most terrifying dreads, I felt no fear and I was completely at ease. The result is as if someone had opened all my windows and my sight has improved at least a thousand percent. Thank you Mr Naylor.

The nurses and doctors were lovely. The length of fasting could be shorter given the length of time you have to wait for the procedure e.g. Breakfast before 6am, procedure after 1.30.
