Carol has been so supportive and helpful throughout adjusting to my new medication for ADHD. Highly recommended. Many thanks to her and the team.

Carol has been excellent throughout my somewhat protracted period of titration for my ADHD. She always took time to ensure that any concerns that she, or I, had were thoroughly covered, calling me not just to start me off on my initial prescription but also whenever she felt that further clarification might be required to supplement our written communications. Given that it wasn't always clear when I was mentioning something just for information, or as a concern this was very helpful. She was also understanding of my need to balance the benefits of medication without completely curtailing other aspects of my life. This probably meant a rather longer period of determining the correct medication and dosage than is typical, but has been very positive from my point of view as it left me some control of how I medicate. I am very grateful for this.

While there was some initial communication difficulty, I appreciate Carol's patience with my long, rambling email communications. I also appreciate her calling me and discussing my concerns via voice, though I would have appreciated this earlier and more frequently during the process. During the period with her I underwent a change of gender, and I appreciate how sensitively she handled the issue as well.

Carol has been amazing as my nurse prescriber. Whenever it was time for my prescription, she would always send it out first class and answered any questions I had promptly and gave great information when describing the problem. There was an occasion when I was concerned about my blood pressure whilst titrating, and she immediately allayed my worries by explaining to me the side effects of the treatment and other factors that could be potentially affecting the values I was getting. After taking some additional readings at the times she suggested, I quickly realised there was nothing to worry about. All throughout my time with Psychiatry UK, Carol has been professional, friendly and very helpful. I am so glad to have had her as my titration expert.

Carol was a great nurse who was able to give me guidance and advice on the medication I was taking. I trusted her when I had to alter my doses and suggested alternatives as I wasn't benefiting from my current medication. No complaints and would recommend her to anyone who requires Psychiatry UK's services.

Profile

I am a registered nurse prescriber. I started my journey as a mental health nurse by completing the recognised nursing course in the UK. Since qualifying as a nurse in 2011, I have worked in acute inpatient and community settings. I have helped pioneered the start of an NHS Adult ADHD service in 2011 and developed the service together with a Consultant Psychiatrist and provided a nurse led service for adults. Since 2011, I have participated in training conferences to help train other clinicians who were planning to start an adult ADHD service in their locality or those who have just started working in an adult ADHD service. I have given talks about the nurse led Adult ADHD service that I have helped pioneered in conferences/training sessions.

I was voted Clinician of The Year in 2017 in the NHS Trust I was working with, and this reflects my dedication and commitment to continue to develop my nursing practice and deliver the best nursing intervention to those in need.
