"I would like to share my story and the challenges I encountered while navigating the journey to find help. Thirteen years ago, my husband was diagnosed with dementia, and from that moment, our lives changed in ways we could never have anticipated."
"Following the diagnosis, we began with appointments at the memory clinic. After numerous visits, my husband was eventually discharged back to the GP. This marked the beginning of a long and often frustrating journey to navigate the system and find the help he needed. Unfortunately, the GP offered little guidance or support, leaving me to figure everything out on my own. It was overwhelming and disheartening, but I knew I had to persist for his sake.
"Applying for CHC was a nightmare. I felt overwhelmed and intimidated by the two individuals who were questioning me."
I felt they never truly believed the seriousness of my husband’s condition.
