I would like to extend my gratitude to Alison Maughan who was my specialist liver nurse at Manchester Royal Infirmary throughout treatment in January 2019. Together with my surgeon Mr Satyadis and his team, Alison provided me with compressive and compassionate care. From my initial consultation Alison put me at ease, answering my question and organising my appointments. Not only is she an exceptional specialist practitioner but she also keeps the cogs turning, liaising with different departments to ensure the best possible care - I cant thank her enough!

My wife is/has suffered from cancer and if Thomas Satydas is your consultant surgeon at MRI then the chances are you will have Alison as your specialist nurse. They make a thoroughly professional pair, with both knowing how the other works and reacts. Whatever Alison says she will do she will do it in a short time period and is not afraid to 'kick as*' in getting results. Both my wife and myself have absolute trust in her and what's more she goes the extra 10 miles to ensure both she and you are totally satisfied with the service. Alison is a consummate professional and with respect she has become a trusted friend as well as a respected specialist nurse at MRI. You can't get any better than her and paired with Thomas they are invincible. Both work long hours way beyond the 9-5 indeed Alison has rang my wife to check her health at what even we regard as unsociable hours and she is still at MRI. In the words of my wife's favourite songstress, Alison is 'simply the best, better than all the rest' . Trust me and request her, you'll be impressed.

I had no need to ask any questions about my treatment or aftercare at Manchester Royal Hospital. Alison Maugham provided me with a clear understanding about the treatment I was about to get and gave me a complete breakdown of the care and treatment I would receive following my operation. She is still in touch and providing me with information regarding the next step in my treatment. Alison Maugham is very competent, understanding and professional in her work and I am glad that she is always there to help me in all circumstances

Alison has been an important part of my cancer journey from when I was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July 2017. Once I'd been diagnosed, I was referred to Manchester Royal Infirmary for a Whipple operation. Alison and her Consultant Mr Deshpande were brilliant in allaying any fears I had before the operation and has supported me all the way since then. It is very reassuring to know that if I have any issues at all, I can pick up the phone and give Alison a call.
