Lucy has been a great help to me during a very difficult time adjusting to a new way of life. She has been an absolute rock for me always available always time to listen and very knowledgeable and helpful. Lucy has actually found time to call me and check up on me on several occasions which I feel is going over and above. She is always available if I need to call her for any advice which I find very comforting it’s nice to know that help is always at hand. Lucy is a very good advert for the NHS and I am sure she is a great asset to the team.

At a vulnerable time In my life when surgery didn’t go to plan , Lucy was calm, very knowledgeable and amazing at explaining everything and was very intuitive at getting my unknowns (I did have a list of questions! ) Lucy maintained my dignity and help guide me through this difficult time, giving me confidence, following up when I was at home really helped to feel safe. Thank you

I first met Lucy after emergency surgery that resulted in me having a stoma and having to deal with all that entailed. Under her guidance I was able to come to terms with the unexpected change to my life. She has patiently shown me how to change my bag, she also instructed my husband so that he could help me in my early days after discharge from hospital. The follow up phone calls have been greatly appreciated. It always makes you feel you are never alone to deal with an anxiety. At my last clinic appointment, that was to check the template for my bag, Lucy picked up on a couple of things that were not quite right. These have now been followed up and are being attended to. This holistic approach is very reassuring and welcome. I have always found Lucy to be pleasant and patient.

I am so grateful for the care and time that Lucy has given me from before my stoma surgery up until the present time. After the surgery she took time and patience to explain how to care for my stoma. She always made sure that I understood what to do and re-assured me that she was there to help and support me. Whenever I have needed further help she has made sure she had the time to support me. This has really helped to develop my confidence in dealing with stoma issues. After giving advice she has always followed up by phoning me to check that everything was fine and arranged to see me in clinic when necessary. She has made me feel valued and very comfortable in asking for advice about any anxieties I had. Thank you very much Lucy for all the help and caring support you have given me over the last few months, it has meant a lot.

From pre-op through to post-op during my stay in hospital Lucy made sure I had all the information about my ileostomy and stoma to make the experience the best it could be. She is empathic, caring and very professional. She has provided continuing support since my operation and when problems have arisen she has provided the necessary information either by phone or when necessary has arranged to see me personally at hospital. She always presents a warm, cheerful personality and I am thankful to have her as my stoma nurse.
