Louise explained her role with a smile and put me at my ease from the start. Her easy going manner boosted my confidence and she answered all my questions, however trivial they might have seemed, clearly and put me fully in the picture surrounding my treatment. Both myself, my wife, and daughter left the consultation with a spring in our steps after what had been a most informative and rewarding experience. I am in good hands.

Lorraine supported me in making the difficult decision to try BCG therapy rather than having a salvage cystectomy following a recurrence of bladder cancer this spring. Her listening and guidance were very helpful. Communication has always been excellent and I have found email to be a great way to exchange information rapidly.

Nothing is ever too much trouble for Lorraine. She has great empathy and guides patients such as myself through very difficult times with understanding and compassion. Her warm and sensitive nature helps patients to feel that they are in the safest if hands.

I met Lorraine straight after my meeting with the consultant who broke the news to me that I had Gleason 9 prostate cancer. For over an hour she explained very calmly and in simple terms what the future would hold and the nature of the treatments I would be offered should my bone scan prove negative for metastasism. She is not only very professional in her knowledge but as importantly she seems to understand how a cancer patient feels and reacts and I have yet to meet a more compassionate and caring NHS worker. Every time I have contacted her since I have received the same dedicated attention and rapid response to my enquiries even though she is not my allocated Macmillan nurse and she must have her own heavy workload. I expect NHS workers to be efficient but Lorraine's empathy and ability to put an anguished mind at rest is probably quite unique.
