Review of Accident and Emergency written by a patient
9th January 2017

I was suffering severe kidney and back issues and sitting waiting for 3 hours on chair that are not patient friendly is unfair. A patient is in pain hence they visit the hospital but waiting on u comfortable chairs doesn't help the situation When I said this to the receptionist she was very rude in her response to me

I have had two operations in the last 15 months & the care was excellent. Intensive care was amazing & whilst it wasn't pleasant it was 'round-the-clock, one-to-one' for 3/4 days with dedicated staff who almost became friends! In both ordinary (A) wards I could not fault the care & the staff were kind, patient & caring, (in many trying situations). The food, considering the numbers being catered for, was good & varied. The cleaning was done well each day by pleasant staff & the porters were 'special', always cheery wherever we went! My own doctors were efficient & came every day to discuss progress. All in all a good experience.......my only concern was that during the weekend all the above became noticeably less efficient, particularly the cleaning - the toilets were pretty awful!! Sorry. Overall 9/10

Admitted in Oct 2015 and July 2016 for two operations to remove cancers from my lungs. I was seen by Mr K Rammohan at the North West Lung Centre and treated with great care and professionalism by the centre and surgical team. I would also like to thank the staff on wards F2 and F6. I was kept informed about my treatment by all concerned. I would also like thank Dr P Taylor and the team on the Cecelia centre where I received chemo therapy after the first operation

Review of Delivery Suite written by a carer
14th July 2016

Admitted to triage/DS at 31 weeks due to bleeding. Very kind and thoughtful staff who remained professional and calm throughout - immediately put us at ease. Subsequently spent a day in the Antenatal ward where same level of care was shown. Now on consultant-led care with the same consultant who dealt with us in triage, so won't be a new, strange face; very consistent level of care and has left us feeling more confident for the birth.

Review of Post Natal Ward written by a patient

Unfortunately I had a very bad experience: -Medication was not administered (e.g. heparin injections missed for a few days) -Tests requested by renal consultant were not done (leading to lack of data to make a diagnosis of complications experienced) -Discharge medication not given (increasing the number of days with missed medicines) -No care or help given at night (difficult to care for a newborn feeling poorly) -Room temperature extremely uncomfortable (too warm) -Unhealthy and poor quality food ...just to mention a few.

Overall care was good but: -More supervision is needed while midwife assigned is on lunch break, e.g. an excessive top up of epidural was given making blood pressure drop to 39 (diastolic). My husband had to report this extremely low BP readings. -Recording of medication given needs improving, e.g. no record of anti-D injection found on my notes. Was it given? If not, that can have serious consequences in future pregnancies.

During my time on Ward A4 all the staff were excellent and professional, from Mr Sharma's team, his Registrar Caroline Byrne to his junior Drs and the nurses during the day were excellent and the physio team too. My only concern would be the evening night staff, some of the agency nurses were there more for the money than offering professional and compassionate care.

Staff generally attentive and caring but weighed down with paperwork. Cleanliness not brilliant especially wash rooms and toilets that were at times unacceptable. Although nursing care was very good, I felt intimidated by pressure to release bed before I felt confident enough to cope out of hospital, especially as I live alone. Whilst I was probably ok to leave hospital I felt that the pressure to discharge me was due to the need to "free up " bedspace rather than because it was felt that I was physically fit to and ready to leave.
