All staff, included in my treatment at Wycombe Hospital on numerous occasions, have always been very friendly and professional. The only negative point I would make is regarding the car parking or lack of it on some visits. I realise that the restrictions of the site means little can be done about it.

Cardiac Day Unit. I attended the unit for an angiogram, arriving at 0730 as instructed and was greeted promptly and settled into my cubicle efficiently and pleasantly. The staff were friendly, polite, cheerful and reassuring (I was terrified at the prospect of an angiogram!) and went out of their way to help me (and all the other patients: I could hear their various discussions from the next door cubicles; there is little or no privacy...). My doctor arrived and talked me through the procedure very clearly and thoroughly and I signed the consent form. At 0945 I was taken into the theatre - given a sedative! - and had the angiogram in less than 15 minutes. It was totally painless and all my previous fears disappeared thanks to the kind and professional advice from the team. I was enormously impressed. Back to the day unit, to be greeted with a welcome breakfast, then monitored for a couple of hours by the very attentive staff, whom I cannot praise highly enough. This cardiac day unit is most impressive. Thank you very much.

Ignore the Stalin-esque architecture and try not to take the lack of parking spaces too badly! The rest is quite excellent! Pay no attention to dreary complaining articles in the media about the state of Britain's hospitals: they do not apply to High Wycombe. I have recently attended a number of departments (cardiac, respiratory and urology) and I am enormously impressed by the quality of all the staff (doctors, porters, nurses, appointments etc) who all show genuine friendliness, sympathy, efficiency and cheerfulness and always seem to have time to talk and help. One has the impression of an organisation that knows where it is going, what it is doing - and is proud of it. Well done - and thank you. PS One little suggestion... Would it be too much to ask for appointments/reports to be emailed nowadays?

I could not have received better care or treatment if I'd gone privately. I only have great things to say about my experience of the Breast Care Unit.

All of the staff in the Breast Care Unit were absolutely fabulous - from the first appointment on a recall after a routine mammogram, through the stages of checks and biopsies, to the appointment to see Mr.Giles Cunnick (the Consultant), consequent surgery by Mr.S/C Farid Ahmed, and follow up with him for the results. All this within a period of approximately a couple of months. I cannot speak highly enough of everyone involved at every stage and would highly the recommend the Department of General Breast Surgery and the Breast Care Unit to anyone needing to have a similar procedure.
