Absolutely FANTASTIC care from the maternity staff at this hospital over the past 4 days! I have been treated like a queen from day 1. Every single midwife I have dealt with has been incredible and I’ve loved every minute! Part of me doesn’t want to leave. Amazing hospital in general. Thank you so much!

The staff were very kind and caring from attending the Joint School to being on the ward all the procedures were explained and I was kept informed throughout my time on the ward. The staff were professional and attentive at all times day and night.

Staff were very helpful, cheerful and efficient. My appointment at the trauma fracture clinic was for 10:10 on the 6/06/19 and I was seen at 10:08 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was treated well and felt that this is a vey well run department. I had seen the doctor had an X-Ray picked up my prescription by 12 o-clock. Brilliant treatment , well done to all involved. M H Jones

I have found a very mixed bag with my dealings with the staff at the Maelor. There is clearly issues with communication between nurses and doctors. One of my biggest frustrations in the wards I have seen is the nurses of all ranks appear to congregate outside of the wards around what seems like a main desk area. They only attend the room to take example a bp measurement and then return to the main desk. A good example of this would be in award on the 6th June. A vulnerable gentleman got out of his bed but did not have his walking frame and wanted to be helped to get ready for sleep so was looking for a nurse to help. He fell backwards crashing into equipment and cupboards and injuring his elbow which resulted in quite a nasty gash. Within seconds on hearing the loud noise of the fall approx. 7 nurses of all ranks were around the poor patient. My disappointment was if there was proper patient care they would have understood the patients’ needs and spotted the signs of this poor man standing unaided. The help buzzer does not appear to be acted upon I have heard this sounding in several wards for upwards of 5mins. It’s clear some staff are not motivated and don’t enjoy their chosen roles its more about getting through the day. vulnerable patients hang onto every word and a two-minute conversation with the doctor can make so much difference to them. I realise this is not always possible, but sometimes it is and means so much to the patient, the information from the nurse appears to be sketchy or they don't know. this hospital has gone downhill, A rejected mattress has been sitting gathering dust outside one the wards on the floor for the best part of a week. walk around the 2nd floor you will see it b-wave I believe. this demonstrates lack of care or time. due to whatever is motivating the staff it’s my believe it’s a bit of both now. in summary the Senior doctors appear to be holding things together, but the day to day people are struggling to make the experience for the patient and also confidence for the family happen we would all be lost without the nhs and it saddens me to see this happen, I know of agencies charging thousands of pounds per week for staff to Wrexham maelor who may only do one day per week in some cases. But the hourly rate is a lot higher than the fulltime staff. how can they give the same care as a motivated nurse? fairly paid staff will look after our nhs, demotivated people will ruin it thank you for reading my message

I wasn't expecting the high level of care and treatment that I received at this hospital, based upon a bad experience many years ago. How wrong I was, and I can honestly say that all staff and departments ticked every box for me. All choices and options were given to me on how I could be treated, and the aftercare was excellent. I was given follow up treatment that was just as professional and efficient. Special thanks to the team from SAU, in particular Sarah (registrar), Amy and Jane (nurses). The only negative that I can find is the lack of parking facilities.. A multi-storey car park would resolve this seriously bad situation.

While undergoing a total knee replacement I received absolutely first class treatment from all of the nursing, physio and catering staff. From one end of my stay to the other I was given simply the best possible treatment.

Patient booking services for gynaecology are extremely unhelpful and ineffective when trying to ascertain a surgery date. Couldn’t have felt more unhelpful and I wonder if the response received is usual. No information that is helpful no exploration of surgery dates that might be helpful to me only that if I’m not available for surgery in their timescale, no mention of earlier or a cancellation, to go back to the gp and start the process again. I think some customer service trading might be helpful for the person who is belligerent and actively off putting maybe something to discuss in supervision about attitude and appropriate responses Happy for contact to discuss further as this really cannot be tolerated S a frontline service interface with members of the public

My mother was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer on July 31st 2018, and was informed that there was nothing that could be done to save her, our family were left devastated by this shocking news, our world collapsed. We decided to seek a second opinion from another doctor at another hospital, we were extremely lucky to find Mr Andrew Baker, who specialises in Upper GI Surgery, including Oesophagus - Gastric Cancer Management and is based at Wrexham hospital. Without delay, Mr Andrew Baker acknowledged our request for a second opinion and arranged the relevant tests required for the investigation of my mother's terminal cancer diagnosis. His thorough and competent investigation concluded that my mother's stomach cancer was in fact, still operable. In November 2018, Mr Andrew Baker and his excellent surgical team performed a total Gastrectomy, saving my mother's life. A BIG SPECIAL THANK YOU to our hero Mr Andrew Baker, also a BIG THANK YOU to Specialist Nurse Michelle, the Surgical Team and Staff on the Critical Care Unit.

Disappointed with how my discharge was handled. I was not given enough help and assistance on leaving. Information regarding my tablets to be taken once at home was not clear which resulted in my warfarin not taken correctly. Also the sister had no interest in my wife's struggle to get me to the car and a porter had to offer to help which I was extremely grateful for.
