What a joke of a hospital! I was seen 10 days ago needing a steroid injection in my shoulder, I phoned ahead to A&E To ask if this was possible, and was told to come up and the orthopaedic minor injuries unit could do it. So My husband drove me to one of the worst hit health authorities for covid to see about getting a steroid injection, I wait for hours to be told i couldn't have one because the directive from the government says they couldn't give me one as it would lower my immune system and put me more at risk of covid! But take these oral steroids but I would have to come back to collect them the next day! and then to come back in 10 days and I should be able to have the injection then! I go back to a badly infected area after 10 days of oral steroids reducing my immune system to be told once again the directive says they cant give it....thats not what the directive says at all! If a risk assessment is done, the patient is fully aware of the risks and consents then if its in the patients best interest they can have the injection! But no! How do I feel about of having some physio sessions instead! So let me get this right...i am less at risk of covid by 3 visits and oral steroids and however many physio sessions than I would have been having the injection in the first place? At this point I need to say I am a retired nurse, and the above doesn't make any sense to me! So thanks to this hospital I have made 3 visits to a badly infected area and put myself at risk! I would juts like to say a really big thank you for nothing!
