Greater empathy by receptionist. Thursday 20th August 7.30pm I listened while the dark haired mid 30’s receptionist barked at a young girl with burnt hand to “book yourself in on a pad”...the fact that the girl was holding a jug of water in one hand, her other burnt hand in the Jug seemed of no importance to receptionist who could barely be bothered to make eye contact with her. This attitude continued throughout the time I was there. The other older receptionist was more helpful, helping an older lady having trouble using the iPads, that at least was comforting to see. These people are a first point of contact, it’s no wonder people complain about A and E. but the nursing care we were given was exceptional and cannot be faulted, it’s a shame this lady’s attitude was lacking any empathy or traits associated with our great NHS. It seems trivial, I know but someone with mental health issues could really have been affected by her attitude, which felt like you were bothering her.
