The Bad. 22hour wait for an ambulance, left in a lot of pain an unable to move with a dislocated hip( thought it was broken) then a six hour wait in the car park to be admitted.
The Good. Excellent care throughout 8 day stay, at all levels, apart from 1 bearded surgeon who dressed in scrubs and chatting up two nurses was put out when asked for water jug to be filled, I quote “ being a surgeon I wouldn’t know where the taps are) and then smirking to the nurses, shame on you, how do you wash your hands or don’t you bother.
NHS, Social work and mental health services let my uncle down, he passed away last week. There was 20inch of dust everywhere, i question infection control protocols. Staff no uniforms. The roof that was going to cave in was held up by stumps. Place should be condemmed. Not fit for purpose.
I just left very positive reviews about Dr McKeogh and Bronglais Hospital,.. and I have to mention Dr Bhan and his team in Withybush who did the diagnostic work that led me to Aberystwyth for the pacemaker. Top class care, swift responses and really personal treatment in Withybush - from A&E through triage, Ward 8, X-Ray and every step in between and behind the scenes - meant that it was a really efficient journey from diagnosis to pacemaker implantation.
Thank you. I could not have had better service and treatment.
Thank you to the gynae clinic team today. Great care, professional staff.
On the positive I was sent an Xray appointment within 3 weeks of being seen at the surgery, and I only waited 3 mins in the department. (16/5/22)
Unfortunately the Person who carried out the X-ray was rude and abrupt, did not introduce himself, was not wearing ID or even a NHS Wales uniform (there was no logo).
Whilst I fully understood what he needed for his x-ray to be 'clear for the Dr. ' he refused to accept that the problem I attended with made it impossible for me to place my limb in the position he obviously wanted, so without any preamble he just grabbed my arm and pulled it into the position he wanted.
The result is that he has made the whole situation worse and I have been in constant pain since the appointment, and can no longer carry out the mobilizing exercises which were making the difference prior to the x-ray.
After a visit to a and e (which is a story in itself) for bleeding both ends , sudden onset I was sent for an endoscopy a week later .this was early December 2021.
I was informed I would receive the results in four weeks.
months passed, I phoned the consultants secretary who informed me the consultant was on holiday for one maybe 2 weeks.she would put my results on his desk.weeks passed, again I rang as I was worried. secretary said oh he hasn't written your letter yet , give us another week.months have passed again and still nothing.
I have had another bleed again but reluctant to go to this hospital again.what is the point!.I am 62, a retired rgn.i know how things work in hospitals but this is ridiculous. I'm all for the NHS after working with them for 30 years but my experience of this hospital has not been good.
The first time I went to a and e whithybush with a knee injury they gave me paracetamol and tried to make me walk on crutches 3 times.in the end they said best I was admitted as I couldn't put my weight on my leg.It turned out I had a fracture of the tibial plateau; knee in other words .I was taken to theatre for open reduction , internal fixation with bone graft.in other words plate and screws.. I was sent home with just a pulpit zimmer.i couldn't walk, couldn't get to the toilet , was total rest, non weight bearing.no aides or help was supplied.my husband had to source a commode, a wheel chair , a shower chair.
I pity people , especially the elderly who haven't the knowledge that I have! what can I say!
My wife went to their accident and emergency department and was made to wait for 9 hours and afterwards sent away with painkiller prescription and not antibiotics for infection. Until i had to go back to the receptionist who confirmed that the pharmacy was open, contrary to the doctors claim that the pharmacy was closed.
We came back to Yorkshire with my wife still in severe pains and was reassessed at Pontefract hospital where she received proper checks and was given antibiotics.
The only thing I could attribute to their actions was because we are foreigners.
It was really shameful.
My name is Rachelle Blair, and I would like to personally thank all of the night staff from the 3rd of October to the 4th. You were all amazing. Thank you all so much, and a special thank you to (and I am sorry if I spell your names wrong) Dr. Hiba, and Nurse Marley, one of the best experiences I have had at withybush hospital. And without a doubt some of the most amazing staff were working tonight. Thank you all so much.
To whom it may concern, i was recently an out patient at Withybush, Trauma an Orthopedics clinic the nurse that attended to me was Lisa Thomas, i could not be in better hands, she was very professional, polite and made me feel at ease, a credit to to nursing profession.
Dont think there is a massive issue with the staff, trouble is they sent my 90 year old mother home knowing she lived alone and couldnt care for herself with no further qualms ! We had to rush from another part of the country to pick up the pieces.
