I was very unhappy with the way I was treated by an admin staff member in an admission team. She was rude on the phone, she was claiming she kept in touch with me when she didn't. She used COVID as an excuse, even thought I work also in NHS and respect the new regulations and difficulties that covid imposed on us. I made previous complains to PALs and only then I felt like my case was treated with respect. She made a mistake with my bookings, which in turns happened that my surgery was in private hospital which was great.

I am writing to offer my deepest thanks and highest praise for the A&E team on duty last night (Saturday 20/02/21)at the Whittington. From the first assessment when I told the woman she had a voice with the calmness of an air traffic controller, to the doctor who double and triple checked everything assiduously before discharging me - they were all - as the song goes “Simply The Best”. No one was able to come to a firm conclusion as to the reason my heart rate suddenly shot up from its normal 60 to 131! Hence I was referred by 111 to A&E. However, the care and attention I received from each and every member of staff - not forgetting admin and lab people doing blood tests, cleaners etc - gave me great confidence when I finally got home soon after midnight. How did I know my heart rate was through the roof? I’ve used a pulse oximeter every day for the last year- recommended by my GP at the excellent Queenswood Practice. She described it as “In a Covid world the most reassuring piece of medical equipment”. Last night it was a safety net in a different way and I would urge everyone reading this to get one asap. The Oximeter rang the alarm bells, Whittington A&E dealt with the problem calmly and efficiently. Thank you!!

I recently had a termination and experienced some complications after. I was repeatedly told by different NHS health services to go to a&e when I experienced symptoms. However when I attended I was made to feel like I was making a big fuss about nothing. I was referred from a&e to the Betty Mansel ward and was told I would receive a call for a scan. I wasn’t called the day after like I was told to expect and when they did finally call I was told I wasn’t offered a scan and shunned away although I was heavily bleeding still and my gp had told me I must have a scan. After feeling like a huge bother and with my mental state not great I didn’t follow it up. However when I started to experience more distressing symptoms and bleeding I had to go back to a&e and finally got a scan with the ward. They placed me on two sets of pills and had a rather insensitive conversation about my symptoms, with little sympathy or understanding. I later found out from my gp that I had been placed on completely inappropriate medication which wasn’t meant to be taken as prescribed, and I ended up with horrendous acne which didn’t help matters. I then had to change medications once again. During my visits at the Betty mansel ward I experienced many awkward situations in the waiting rooms such as comments (across a busy room full of pregnant women ) like ‘how many weeks are you?’ , ‘is this your first one?’ Obviously not a question you want to answer when you’ve just had a termination. Having a termination was an extremely hard decision, and I feel my guilt was entirely enhanced by bodies reaction and recovery process. I feel the hospital staff I came into contact with had no real understand of the physical and mental health a woman goes through post abortion. Not once was I given clear advice. I felt that once my baby was gone I was no longer important and I at times felt punished for going through the process. I would hope that my words mean there is better training on post abortion health from especially the Betty mansel ward.

I have visited the Whittington as a patient and a carer for a friend who received cancer treatment and have always found all the staff in all the departments I visited professional, caring and patient. The only real problem I have ever had is in parking!!

there was a few letters at the start of my treatment that did not arrive to my address but after that, everything was good. when my treatment was canceled due to C-19, i was called and staff stayed in contact with mt by phone to re-schedule. after the 3rd time being booked, my surgery happened and the staff were great at making sure everything was explained and followed. I was checked in by a student nurse who explained herself very well and was very specific with following every step to keep me safe. I was well looked after.

The Whittington is my favourite London hospital. The staff are always polite, friendly and helpful, even cheerful after working long hours.
