Total Hip replacement 18 July 2019. Top class surgeon Mr D Herlekar my second hip with him and his first class team at this hospital. From start to finish it is a seamless experience. From arrival the staff are assuring polite and some even recognised me from last time three years ago! The anesthetic team were brilliant and stepped up when they knew I was a bit apprehensive about deep sedation as opposed to a general anesthetic. Again, slick kind and knowledgeable. They explained every process as we went along which does help and even though I had done this all before three years ago and had every confidence in the process it did help those little last minute nerves! The after care nursing is the best ever ! Super nurses male and female with a great sense of duty, care and a sense of humour. There is nothing too much trouble, help on hand without having to wait after pressing the help button. Night and day. The physio girls are great and Instil confidence to get going. Finally, it’s the best food you could ever want for healing. Fresh salads fantastic chicken curry and beautiful porridge. I couldn’t thank everybody more. Today is Tuesday 17 September and I have just returned from seeing Mr Herlekar at Lancaster. He told me I have made a fast and good recovery and I can now start riding my horse again 3 weeks earlier than expected. To be honest after this operation and care at Westmorland General would I have expected anything else ? First class in every aspect!

I've had surgery at WGH twice in two weeks (two different conditions), not to mention a number of visits. I felt involved at every stage, was treated with respect and kindness at all times and was incredibly impressed at the professionalism of all members of staff.

Every person I encountered at WGS went beyond expectations to provide patients with kind ,friendly professional care . Buzz for help and someone was at there almost before your hand left the buzzer .! Nothing was too much trouble . AND the food was great . I wanted to stay longer !!!! THANK YOU ALL

Westmorland General Hospital is a wonderful place to be treated. It has an air of calmness about it and the staff are simply wonderful. I have been in twice for investigtions and cannot see any way in which the hospital or staff could be improved.

I was seen in urology which is not always pleasant but I was welcomed and put at ease straight away by a lovely nurse. The procedure I had was done very professional and skilful, so thank you.
