I fully support my local hospital, especially as I worked there many years ago. However, the parking is a real issue. I am able to walk and ended up parking on the heath. What on earth is going on? the amount of cars parking is ridiculous - I really can't believe that it is necessary and there are so many many people parking there. If I had not been able to park on the heath despite being 45 mins early for my appointment I would not have been able to attend. This must have an impact on patient numbers attending appointments. Not sure what the answer is. Perhaps an area for outpatient appointments segregated. visitors - separate places and staff (whilst I fully support them being able to park on site) more off-site parking particularly for administrative staff. Thanks

Was taking in with on going severe left sided abdominal pain and inflammation , I had to wait nearly 6 hours in a&e before taking to the ward as of many of us did as they had no beds avalible , finally getting on the ward I wasn't told what I was doing there exactly if I was staying in , tests being done nothing , absolutely nothing was told to me , my first thought of the ward was OMG terrible it was so old , dated dirty and scared for my life I was gonna leave sicker than I arrived , and being mixed with male and female I just couldent bare it it freaked me out to be on there with grunting old men the whole place was just awfull , if your scared of hospitals like me you'll hate ward f5 , anyway a doctor later came round to see me and put my pain and condition on to an on going health problem I already have with my bowels ,he did not even mention the fact that my gp suspected an appendersistis , no tests other than a blood test did I receive , no scans nothing? , so how would they no it wasn't something els or if that was the case it was my on going condition then why wasn't I offered medication of some sort to put me right, I felt like I was dying and I absolutely hate hospitals but I dragged my self there noing how seriously I felt my condition was and I was never taken serious or offered of any kind of medication? , anyway it was about 11pm at night I still at this point was never offered a glass of water food ect I'd been there for hours now hungry and thirsty and I had to tell them I've not been offered nothing to them then asking did I want a coffe I said yes please and then she practically threw a nhs sand which snake bag at me I'm not sure what sandwich was in it but it was so warm as was the yougart I couldent eat it as it would have made anyone sick as clearly wasn't kept in a fridge, Moving on anyway I was told I'm fine ????? They concluded I was fine ? And at 2am yep 2am in the morning I was in my bed and they came to tell me the surgeons say I can go home as long as I can get home I'm free to go , so as happy as I was to go home I had to ring hubby 2am in the morning to come get me, they made me feel I wasted there time where is in fact they wasted mine , and since then and only because of that bad experience I've since now gone private , and hopefully my future experiences of having to go to hospital may be a little more pleasant , hope this helps of those who would appreciate to where I'm coming from ,

Day surgery patient. Excellent department, caring staff and very clean and efficient. Couldn't ask for more (except a clear biopsy!)

Overnight stay following surgery. You needed to ask for pain relief before you needed it being you rarely got it until an hour or two later. Care assistants were great, they did the observations mostly. I rarely saw a qualified nurse. My drip ran through at 7 and despite informing the nurse, who said she'd be back, it wasn't changed dealt with until 10.30 when night staff were doing the drug round. Buzzers went for an age during the day but they were too bust moving lockers etc to answer them. I went home at 4 pm after asking when I could go. Drs saw me post op and my surgery but nurses didn't. I was given medications to take home but had to ask about what to do about my five dressings. They disappeared then returned with five more. I'd had gastric surgery and a Hiatus hernia repaired and was not given any dietary advice on leaving. I joined Internet forums to find that out. Wasn't really I'mpressed with the nursing care to be honest. Found everything out by trial and error. Night nurses were much more efficient. Natasha especially, F5

i have made many visits to this hospital over the years with various members of my family and for myself. I have never had cause to complain, however I do feel that the cleanliness of the hospital has improved compared to a few years ago. Have always received a good level of care and people should stop complaining about the NHS.

On May 12 I was operated on by Mr. Kumar. I was treated quickly and efficiently spending just one night in hospital during which time I was treated with respect and understanding. Mr Kumar kept me informed all the way and I have been left with a scar on my neck that you can hardly see .Now some 8 weeks later I am reaping the benefits of the operation and I am very grateful to Mr Kumar , his support staff and everyone at the West Suffolk hospital. My mother was in for a "lumpectomy" (breast cancer surgery) and the level of care and attention she received was just astonishing. Both surgeons took the time to see and talk to her before AND after surgery and even the anaesthetist visited her as she was recuperating to see that there had been no ill effects. The ward sister was phenomenal; caring and competent in every way and even the food was first class. My father had been in a private hospital and nothing there was up to anything like as high a standard.
