Review of Accident + Emergency General Card
11th September 2023

I came in to A&E early on a Saturday morning and it turned out I was illegal than I thought I was! The medical, nursing and radiology team were brilliant, caring, informative and prompt - I even got a surgical bed really quickly! Thank you to everyone in A&E.

Just about 3 weeks ago I had to visit A&E at Warwick Hospital with acute shortness of breath. I was fortunate in that there were only 2 people waiting! Within 10 minutes I had been seen by the triage nurse, hadan ECG & blood tests an after another 15 minutes an X-Ray. Following conultations with doctors a CT scan was arranged by the Specialist Dr Garcia, this man and his team saved my life. It was found from the scan that I had a massive clot covering my heart and lungs with the upshot being that without treatment Imy heart would have failed probably within 24 hours and that would have beenthat. A procedure lasting 2 hours was arranged that dissolved the clot, thus saving my life and protecting me from further dangerous clots forming. I entered A&E at 5.25pm and by 11.30pm I was in the Coronary ward with the procedure all complete. I can't thank the Specialist & the hospital staff who looked after me for the following 4 days enough they really are special people. Since my discharge the excellant care has continued. With all my heart thank you Warwick Hospital I will never forget what you have done for me.

Review of Delivery Suite
3rd September 2023

I arrived at Warwick hospital excited to give birth and left traumatised with my dignity in tatters. I was made to feel like it was my fault and that I wasn’t trying hard enough during a difficult birth. I was then left in blood soaked bed sheets and no one coming to my bay even when my buzzer had been ringing for over 30 minutes. The ward was short staffed and stretched, it was dangerous. My discharge notes weren’t processed and my baby did not receive her newborn checks. The staff were condescending (1 or 2 were fantastic but absolutely at their limit capacity wise)

Suggested improvements
Manage staffing limits. The NHS are putting lives at risk. Both my mental health and physical health are at rock bottom following the birth.

Review of Endoscopy Unit - Warwick
3rd September 2023

From the start of the process of me coming into the endoscopy unit. I was made very welcome also put at ease. During the consent stage the nurse was incredibly good. I think her name was Marion. As I was initially looking at sedation but during the consultation process for the consent. when I mentioned about, I was a carer for my wife. She was having some concerns with me being looked after and for the care for my wife. I spoke to my wife whilst I was there, and the nurse had a chat with my wife over the phone as well due to the risks. The nurse wanted to ensure I was going to be cared for and wife was going to be cared for as well. It helped me to get to the agreement that due to all the risks sedation was not the best option. I didn't feel forced to come to this decision but was giving all the facts to help me to come to the informed choice. Then once that part was complete and then going straight through to have the procedure without waiting. The staff that was doing the procedure was good and was placing us at ease. Explaining why I was getting some discomfort during the process and being apologetic even though it was not their fault. They were very reassuring which was helping me to relax. Then at recovery the nurses were good as well. Making sure we were fine and doing their final checks prior to my discharge to go home. Also, to talk through the paperwork and what to do in certain situation where I may need to go to A&E. All through this process certainly helped me as i sometimes become incredibly nervous and anxious. With the reassurance of all the staff from the very beginning to the end and not having to wait too long to go in for the procedure has certainly helped with my anxiety levels. Would like to thank all the staff on that department

Review of Outpatients Department Warwick General Card
28th August 2023

I had my 36 weeks scan at Warwick hospital It was the second scan I was having at Warwick hospital, as I had all my previous care in Good Hope hospital. It was no one at the reception desk so I had to walk to different members of staff working at different wards to ask about my appointment. The operator who did the ultrasound was the same lady as last time called Nerinder Any question we asked, was ignored, she was in rush to get us out of the scan room. Me and my husband asked if we can get any photo of the ultrasound she agreed first then at the end of the scan she refused to give us any photo, she did the exact same the last scan we had When I asked her for the reason she replied oh your baby was not posing anyway! Even though whenever we asked for photo at Good Hope hospital we always got it and we were treated with respect and kindness there. When I asked again she shrugged her shoulder and said: “I don’t know, I didn’t take any” She handed the report paper to us and asked us to leave, these two appointments left us shocked about how different we are treated here at Warwick compared to Good Hope!

Better communication with patients. Treat patients with respect and dignity Consider the patients at least involved in their care.

Review of Unknown
24th August 2023

Having suffered prostate problems for decades and cost me my career in shiftwork, I pushed for some treatment and in January 2020 Mrs Maya Harris and her team operated on me and from that time onward my life has gradually improved, especially with sleep. Follow up work by her team, having spotted a kidney stone, improved my prostate and flow even more. I now regularly get 5-6 hours continuous sleep and on a few occasions slept through the night this year. I back up their efforts with taking their lifestyle advice as best I can and I am grateful to all those who have contributed. I just thought they should know how appreciated their efforts are.

I should have pushed 30 years ago and I don't know how you could got involved with that.

Review of Rheumatologist Clinic (Warwick OPD)
23rd August 2023

You have decided to stop emailing out my prescriptions for methotrexate. Surely you could send the prescription electronically to my GP or my local pharmacist? It is a one hour return trip to our nearest hospital, and apart from our time & fuel, you are increasing the workload at the hospital pharmacy. If you can’t/won’t send things electronically, you should be able to print out address labels as we always used to in the old days. You are making things more & more difficult for patients. We already have to order and collect our other regular prescriptions every 4 weeks, instead of trusting the GPS to know how often to prescribe.

Suggested improvements
I hope you will reconsider this appalling and stress causing decision.
