Admitted via gp early evening, Arrived in SAU unit. Checked in explained the problem was examined and admitted to ward. Given antibiotics and told a scan was required- no explanation as to what treatment was being done and why?? Or what the suspected problem was.... had a scan the following morning medication was changed but no reason given. Discharged on 3rd day and was finally told what the issue was..(it was on the discharge note)...nurses helpful and done their best to help but they work off what the doctors tell them and in my case they couldn’t tell me what the doctors were trying to do or what they thought the issue was only got told they will speak to you after the scan but they never did speak to me they only changed the medication via the nurses charts ..... not knowing what was being done and why is very stressful for a patient....but the treatment appears to have worked.... discharged at 9am and had to wait for a prescription to take home... it’s now 16h45 and still no sign of the prescription, still waiting in ward.... no way to chase prescription..nurse is fed up of being asked.. is it here yet? ward bed being used all day while waiting to leave... WTF? If the pharmacy is that busy or slow surely it would be possible to issue a prescription that can be taken to an external pharmacy....can’t believe it takes from 9 am until after 5pm to issue a prescription..... what is actually going on? manufacturing the tablets themselves?
