On arrival at the clinic the staff nurse greeted me with a smile. She took me to my bed, got me settled. Then in a friendly but professional manner provided me with all the information I needed, going through everything in a clear and precise manner ensuring I fully understood. At all times I was kept at ease and felt confident and relaxed about the upcoming procedure. When I was taken through for the colonoscopy everybody introduced themselves and said good morning. The Dr performing the procedure then explained everything to me about the room and the sedation and began the procedure. During this I started to feel a lot of discomfort and pain due to the shape of my colon. The Dr explained we could stop at anytime but at my insistence they carried on. All the staff assisted in helping me move to positions to help with the procedure and give me gas and air. The procedure was completed and even though it had been very unpleasant I felt the staff treated me with dignity compassion and respect. This was much appreciated by myself. Back in the recovery area all the staff were again friendly and attentive and looked after me until I was able to be discharged. The only thing that could have been improved is being able to speak to the Dr after the sedation had worn off. This would have been to discuss the pain and discomfort I had felt during the procedure to help me fully understand what had caused it. On the day due to the sedation I did not think to ask but if the Dr had turned up I would have had some questions. This is not a compliant just an observation as I appreciate they had a busy day ahead.
