The worst experience I’ve ever had!!!!
I got completely brushed off! The dr I saw didn’t have a clue what I was on about, I ended up telling him what I thought was wrong with me (gallstones) he told me to go to my GP! Altho I’d been in agony on and off all day! He just said if it happened again come back…. I was so put off by my experience when it happened again I didn’t bother! I waited 2 hours in agony to be seen. I ended up going private for a ultrasound over the weekend and yes it is gallstones! ( he didn’t even take my bloods! Which I’ve been told should of been a minimum ) ! No wonder hospitals have such a long wait!!!! You end up only being seen when it’s too late and you’re practically dying! Complete joke. I live by myself and it’s not as easy as “just come back if it happens again” trapped gallstones can be very dangerous.
Very good teratement in Urology Unit.
My late mother and my late wife received wonderful care at the Vic. My wife actually looked forward to getting chemotherapy because of the uplifting atmosphere and the caring attitude of the staff. I am firmly of the view that the latter is the most important aspect of a hospital visit. If the staff are caring everything else can be tolerated. My own experience has been equally positive - I have private insurance but I have never used it. That must say something.
I’ve had the misfortune having to attend A&E dept on a number of occasions once I was humiliated and laughed at and being told I was a serial attender by a not yet qualified doctor I attended as I could not raise my left arm I left very quickly my choice. I attended during the pandemic was referred by my gp the receptionist was informed I was sent via gp but ignored me and wrote self attended after waiting 8 hours on a plastic chair I watched older people cry needing to use the toilet patients helping them go to the toilet and a woman next to me said thinks she has had a stroke but 4 hours later still not seen the whole place was dirty with blood and fluids on the floors I was seen after a relative asked how long it would be as I was actually in a lot of pain pooing blood I had 2 canulas in both arms the dr I saw was nice I told him I wanted out of this place at that point I would rather have died at home he gave me strong antibiotics which the prescription couldn’t be filled due to no chemists open I removed the canulas myself a nurse came past he (started to remove them too) the room He was with a patient in a chair I told him I was leaving after 8 hours he replied yeah yeah very sarcastic disgusting treatment, third world country care degrading humiliating treatment as a human being shame on whoever is responsible for this mess
We were waiting a long time in a and e , understandable but the nurse working on there was just ignoring people , one gentleman wet himself because she wasnt listening or even talking to him . Also i went to path lab , with an appointment and was turned away , because the doctors name was on the form and it wasnt from the hospital I turned up on the right day right time with an appointment , so its not like anyone else could use it .
Wonderful treatment given to my husband during his hospital stay surgery
Each member of staff works so hard, so busy, such long shifts
There hard work is greatly appreciated
The staff are a credit to the hospital
Everything kept nice and clean, even the off ward toilets,
Thank you so much all of you
Not kept waiting very long...a Nursing Assistant came to say they would be with Dad shortly.
First class service
This latest visit was for Twenty Nine days in the Cardiac wards and Intensive care and not to forget the Dental department my experiences as in 2017 after my first Heart Attacks I have always found Blackpool Victoria Hospital Outstanding in every area and Department that have had a reason to provide a service to, or for me.
I have nothing but Gratitude and an abundance of respect for all members of the medical staff for being very caring, and professional, and all ancillary staff of all areas my heart felt thank you for looking after me.
Thank you
Ian Nelson
When my father went into hospital on the 10/7/21. they left him in a side room for 2hours without being seen. Then when someone finally did turn up it was just to tell my father, to do a urine sample then they left him again. They transferred him from urgent care, to Accident and emergency, where staff could see my father was in a wheelchair but left him there for 12 hours. without asking my family member would my father like to sit on a chair or bed. He was not offered food until 9pm he went in at 2pm, a member of staff took bloods and did it incorrectly as blood was running down my fathers hand. The staff were complaining about the patients, which is totally unprofessional. There was no communication between the staff either. So overall To improve the care for patients at this hospital, would be to overhaul the hospital and get caring staff. Deal with the staff shortage that they have.
