Was a patient a couple of times there last year. High sugar levels initially. When I was in May June I did not have a great experience with some Nurses. One refused to check my levels a couple of nights and he did not care if I reported him. They also took away my monitor so I could not check myself. They do not check enough anyway. Also had two very nasty nurses in when I was in a discharge ward. They, especially one, should not be a nurse. The food was not good and they really did nothing. The Home I went into did more.

Hi recently sent in with low sodium levels. Was sent to admissions one. Went in at 5 not tested for covid until 4.45pm. Bloods around 6.15 and ecg at 7. I asked why the delays understandable if due to high admissions but no normal day they said. Well why did it take so long for my bloods as that’s why I was in. No one explained why the delays or when I would be seen. Whole time I am coughing violently and being sick. Eventually around 5 a nurse says I need fluids and gets me a drip 2 hours later. By then I was starving as couldn’t eat what they offered and also so dehydrated and thought I would collapse. Finally sent to ward 53 who were great hence why I gave 3 stars however even they were not told what I needed and had to wait to speak to someone else before I got treatment. At 2 am finally. That really helped and was able to leave by 3.30pm next day. Wouldn’t have stayed even if they told me too as it got too much and I wanted To be home with my babies. I am covid free and told to take it easy but that’s it no follow up Or anything to tell my gp. I understand covid is around. It as they said they weren’t busy. Not the first time this has happened as I know of two other cases where patients just left to it. Really sad as this hospital is one of the best, been in before this whole covid mess and was seen straight away. And my illness then was nowhere as dangerous as it was this time. Really saddened and disappointed especially as other hospitals are Doing so well.

I had a stay in ward 33 after breaking my tibia . I was there for 10 days and all the staff were very caring. Mr Walmsley and his team performed surgery and I was completely satisfied with all the treatment I got. The ward was spotless and everyone who worked there helped me a lot.

I spent a month on Ward 44, having been taken in with acute kidney failure. Every single member of staff was professional, caring, and made me feel safe and cared for. I had a number of scans, and was accompanied by a friendly nurse, who made sure I was informed and comfortable. The staff conducting the scans were without fail friendly, and capable, keeping any waiting to a very bare minimum. My room was constantly cleaned; and the food was excellent, really really good. This ward, with it's top class staff work so hard, are professional always, yet they have a way of making you feel at home, and that nothing is too much trouble for them. .An exceptional experience, and a big thank you to all who looked after me.

The staff want people to fit their needs and do not assess the individual and taylor treatment to fit the needs of the individual. To cut cost in the short term the staff do not let the patients know all the information / diagnosis / prognosis but end up causing pain and discomfort for many years and then cost the NHS much more due to the delays. They also enter false information into patients medical records, in other words tell lies. Be wary when going to this hospital you could like me come out worse than when you went in!
