I suggested that a plan pinned on the patients bed would be a good idea... when I was in SGH in Cardio for my heart bypass it was often a frightening time - when I worked in LNFH in MIU (reception) and on MAU (ward clerk) on my doubke shifts I had become confident that I understood the system, the staff and the departments... how wrong was I... after one experience I remember I started to panic - thought I might just be one person to disappear - my notes written in desperation read points like - family I DO NOT want to die... where are you and once I was found trying to escape on the fire exit stairs... so no, not all was rosy but the overall I praise the professional excellent specialist. My last procedure (AAA Vasco procedure was excellent) I was walked in to the theatre, the anaethesist was great and te procedure so good that I was allowed to go home again after less than 24 hrs. THANK YOU again SGH - so yes, the heating in the ward may be on full and the fans on for cooling (at the same time!!) and the nurses chatting may have left me desperate for a quiet night it was a small price overall. When one nurse offered me a drink at approx 4am she said she was disturbed because everytime she looked at me I woud oen my eyes and look back... the coffee was good though and I managed to sleep for a while. I have a couple of other memories but looking at the bigger picture I must say that I am very happy with the NHS and extremely happy to live close enough to go to SGH. Thanks

Absolutely appalling hospital. 9 hour wait on a trolley in a and e. No pillow just a blanket. An hour and a half to be triaged then wasn't seen by anyone for 5 hours! Was dehydrated and in pain. Blood test was done, canula put in, so expected fluids and pain relief but the told nothing would be done until the bloods came back! 2hours later fluids and....paracetamol. Treatment didn't improve on amu. Nurses too busy and just didn't seem to care. Promised to get you something (and I'm including medication here) and you never saw them again. Lady in the bed next to me was written up by the doctor for a nebuliser at 4pm. At 10pm she couldn't wait any longer and kicked off. As I was leaving she was just getting it. For me discharge was very sudden. Told I may be going home the next day then totally out of the blue at 10.30pm at night when everyone was settled for the night, I was discharged. Lucky for me my husband hadn't gone to bed so could pick me up. I'm sure some people are happy with this hospital but I will never return. When your doctor sends you to hospital because you are severely ill you expect a reasonable amount of care and treatment. If that is what you expect don't go to uhs

Terrible, if I could give no stars I would. Arrogant and waiting times way over guidelines.

I would like to thank you for your outstanding efforts! I also would like to thank the paramedics Andy and Mark who took care of me on Wednesday 20th January 2021, a surgeon Dr H Elberm and a lovely nurse/ carerer Izza Markesh, an anaesthetist Yasa, and many more. I was impressed by other hospital staff : a cleaner Wahid Najafie- who was so thorough with his cleaning, it’s so important in hospitals especially wher e all kinds of illnesses and diseases thrive; a special thank you to all staff- Nick, Melody Agustin, Susan Nworji , Anca- nurses and other medical staff in East Wing who showed fantastic care for the patients. Thank you!

Totally lack of care and feeling. Phoned me and asked me why I walked out even though I was having a heart scan at the time.

I was impressed with the caring treatment, kindness and friendliness of all the staff. The nursing staff assigned to me were so caring, approachable, answered all my queries and appeared truly dedicated to their profession. The doctors also readily answered my questions, allaying my concerns. The ward and washing and toilet facilities were clean. The food was varied and good. I found the advice from the cardiology rehab nurse very helpful.

Dr Ching took over from my previous consultant, Omar Al-Salihi who moved to Guys Hospital in London. Omar gave me excellent care over the several years I was with him and Dr Ching has continued in the same vein.
