Just wouldn't recommend the Wellington Hospital. Over the years i have visited family members there on many occasions and i am shocked and saddened by how low the standards have fallen. The surgery went well which is the main thing, the consultant was good and the nurses were nice but everything else was pretty dreadful. They are understaffed and it really shows. If you call someone by pressing the button it takes ages before anyone comes. You hear unanswered bells ringing from various rooms all day. You have to almost beg to be given a fresh jug of water every day, and worse, to ask for help with a shower or wash after major surgery. The food and plates you are given for dinner are still in your room mid morning the next day and they never check to see if you actually take your medication as they leave it on the table so if you are an older patient this is a disaster. i could go on and on. Whole thing very unsatisfactory and when we left pain medication was not discussed and within 6 hours my mother was in the most excruciating pain. Just not enough care at this hospital anymore
