The rapid diagnosis Centre is truly brilliant! Every year I attend for my annual family he mammogram. Lucky to have such a fantastic service available. Quick, easy, efficient as always. Heidi the radiographer was marvellous! Thank you. Greeted well on the door, Covid measures reassuring. Bravo Marsden as always. Jewel in the crown.

I had a course of radiotherapy and at every appointment the staff were friendly and kind. I have provided 5 starts for meals, fears and pain, however did not require any of them but was unable to submit the form without completing them!

Suggested improvements
Very happy with the overall experience.

My experience with the Royal Marsden has been excellent so far. Everyone that I have come into contact with has been really friendly and helpful towards me. The radiotherapy team that looked after me all displayed great professionalism and were always on hand to answer any questions that I had. I am so glad that I was able to have my treatment at the Royal Marsden Chelsea.

Outstanding service from all. Today I took a ct scan. George at reception was very caring. Patrick took my blood in the most delicate way. Lisa attended and was charming. Arun took me into the ct room and most friendly and helpful. Maya was wonderful, a lovely lady.

Review of Medical Day Unit (Chelsea) written by a patient
7th December 2020

After a stressful and long journey to arrive , I am treated with friendly staff, however I understand the need for confidentiality ,I find the requirement to give hospital number at reception impersonal and the start of feeling like I am in a cattle market. Then comes the blood test where I am a letter. Having my PICC line dressing changed and bloods taken open in a small room with another patient is I find also impersonal and is certainly no confidentiality happening at that moment. Next the healthcare assistant calls my name and my weight ,blood pressure and general observations are taken Openly in front of the MDU . No cleaning or single use blood pressure cuff evident between patients. Then the wait for Doctor, no one communicates they are running late , then I am ushered in a small room and still one explains how long roughly the Doctor will arrive. Going to hospital alone is scary and stressful and I really dread every appointment. When I see the doctor and nurses they are always pleasant and kind but I also find economical with the truth when asked direct questions. I am normally too stressed and tired at this point, being alone to ask or rephrase my questions, as all I want todo is get out and breathe some fresh air. The actual chemotherapy room is larger and not as claustrophobic ,but very chaotic and noisy. The nursing staff always calm and efficient. The only nurse who makes time to talk and is both kind and informative is the sister who is in charge of teaching other nurses I think in private wing unfortunately her name escapes me right now. I also attend the Marsden in Sutton and find the whole experience from CT scanning ,blood tests,,PICC line team ,outpatients reception team SisterCatherine ,front entrance and MDU welcoming and friendly. Completely different experience and I wishI could have my chemotherapy treatment there. It is also only an hour journey and easier all round d with parking and costs involved .

Suggested improvements
More privacy Maybe more staff in pharmacy as chemo is always delayed, which causes traffic jam issues and following day district nurse will still come at same time even if chemo was put up an hour late and still running. There is always a long queue for pharmacy so assume they are very busy and short staffed. More regular cleaning bathrooms. Named nurse tocare for individuals for continuity and more interest in individual patient. Nurse specialist Alison to understand she should wear a mask in private room with patients.

It was very punctual. The radiologists were human and professional . They answered all my questions honestly and without embarrassment . Vina was just delightful : interested , anxious to help as much as possible , with a sense of humour .

I returned to The Royal Marsden BDU after a gap of some years, but was pleased that even during this time of COVID-19 the staff from receptionists to consultants were friendly, professional and reassuring. The BDU clinic was very busy but I was grateful to be seen at short notice. The hospital was so clean and comfortable which helped to put me at ease. The volunteers at the entrance were also helpful and reassuring. I so appreciate that all the facilities and professionals are on the one site and that each stage of the consultation procedure flows from one section to another. The only thing I would comment on is that in this time of Covid-19 I would have felt more comfortable and safer with some windows open for better ventilation.

I was only in for a blood test, but as always found the Royal Marsden charming caring and helpful in these trying times ...soon hopefully we will be back to some sort of normal and I know the RM will continue to live up to its magnificent caring reputation.

Excellent service from all concerned. Not only were the Radiographers first rate throughout but were equally supported in providing a personalized caring environment by (amongst others) Henry and the volunteer staff COVID checking at the Main Entrance, Deborah and other staff on Reception and the ever willing and available Vina and the nursing team. I appreciated that everyone engaged with both eye contact and asking how I was feeling. Even remembering our past corridor conversations (e.g. my grandchildren, 11+ wine tasting or Welsh rugby support) All these extra-curricula conversations help reinforce you are providing treatment to the person and not just the ailment. Follow up has also been first class e.g. consultation, extra tests and scans when an issue of concern from the normal run of treatment presented itself.
