I went for my first booking appointment 3 weeks ago. It was well organised. I was seen on time and the midwife spent a lot of time with me going through everything in detail. I was asked lots of questions and included in decisions about mine and baby’s care. We then went on for the scan, which again ran on time and the sonographer was very professional and took the time to explain what he was looking at, was very kind and reassuring and gave us lots of time to see baby and take it all in. I then had to go for blood tests. I will say, we waited about an hour for this and were not told that there would be a wait so thought we had been forgotten about! In addition there was miscommunication about one of the blood tests and so the nurse had to take blood twice. These things could be improved. I also had a couple of medical health related questions/possible complications which the midwife said she was making a referral for an obstetrician. She said I would receive a triage call. Three weeks later, no call and no communication. I will follow this up but this was a little disappointing. Overall a very positive experience with warm and caring staff, but a few edges that need ironing out.
