I was admitted to the Woodthorpe Hospital for Aquablation of the prostate under the consultant Mr Philip Goodall on the 9th of June My original admission was the 4th of April at 7am and I duly turned up and was gowned ready for theatre and the operation was cancelled as the representative of the company who own the computer system had got his dates mixed up (not a good start) However back to the 9th of June and all went well with the operation and I was under great care of the nursing team Special mention to Lucy Jacks who was amazing along with Nthabi who looked after me on nights and Naiomi, Kayleigh Cathrine and Lorna who looked after me with meals There was one nurse Anam (if this is the correct spelling) who was lacking in my opinion in bedside manners and on two occasions i asked for hygiene wipes and they never appeared also she was non communicative and rarely spoke when she came in the room I was not discharched the next day as normal as my bleeding through the cathtar was still strong and I was eventually discarchrged on the Thursday the 12th On the Friday I was still concerned with the blood colour I called the hospital and the nurse called Mr Goodall who had recommended I go to City hospital where he had organised with one of the team there to see me and do a bladder flush I was not happy with this solution and I spoke with Mr Goodall and explained my frustration at the only pathway it seems if your discharged form the Woodthorpe after this type of surgery is to go to City Hospital as they have no back up there on Friday or the weekend My point to this is in my opinion if Woodthorpe are going to offer this surgery they need to back it up 100% in their own hospital It shouldn't be you start of private and end up in the NHS hospital with respect to the NHS why should they treat me Unfortunately at this stage I could not recommend having this surgery there at Woodthorpe until they have the complete A-Z of treatment especialy if it starts to go wrong as often surgery does I have had no issue with the Consultant or the nursing staff, the issue I have is with the hospitals aftercare
