Earlier today I had to attend A&E due to pain in my groin through to my back and shoulder that was uncontrollable at home. I was nauseous and deeply distressed by the pain. I was first seen by the triage nurse who was lovely then after a long wait I was seen by the phlebotomist who also was lovely and very caring. After another long wait I was placed in a cubicle and then a Emergency Doctor came to see me. He said that he could not see anything obvious but that he was going to organise an x ray in case there was a hernia abs that he would provide me with some pain relief. A little while passed and then another Doctor came in this time was very different, the Doctor came marching into the room and told me that his colleague had told him all that was necessary abs that I didn’t want to go home. I said that that was not the conversation I had that the conversation I had was that I was to have an abdominal x ray. At this moment the Doctor Dr Stephen Mckvie stood back abs said well that’s not happening you are not an emergency you said you have been holding this pain at home so you are not an emergency abs you are going home. I said but how can you derive that I am not an emergency I told the other Doctor that I had been up all night had vomited and was in excruciating pain. He said what do you want us to do about it ? I said can you scan me it x ray me and he said no you are not an Emergency I’m discharging you. I asked him what kind of Doctor he was I told him I was really distressed and that I had never come across a Doctor like him who acted the way he did alone the way he did he said that I was “deplorable” for saying that to him and I said but you are not helping me at this stage he grabbed his note and walked saying you are discharged. I left the hospital still in absolute agony something was twisting in my groin abs the pain was unbearable. I started walking and just walked I was crying and crying I felt so degraded so vulnerable and so alone I walked even though I was in agony and it started to rain. I felt so alone and just wanted to end it all I couldn’t take the pain anymore. At this moment I’m sitting in a toilet in Sainsbury’s crying because I do not know what to do with this pain. I also heard the Doctors and nurses talking you can’t help it they were all saying the same thing they just wanted everyone to go home. I hope to God I never have to return to this hospital it used to be great when it was the old Southern General but now no my heart is broken and I am left in this terrible pain. I thought doctors were meant to do no harm.
