I was thoroughly impressed with the care I received at the Mcindoe Centre. I stayed for one night after my surgery, and from start to finish I was treated with kindness and respect. Every person I spoke with, from hospital staff, Nurses, Anaesthesiologists (etc) were incredibly kind and made me feel safe. I felt like they were focused on my care and making me comfortable, and honestly they could not do enough for me. I was being checked in on and updated on my care regularly, and I could easily tell the high level of skill and expertise from all staff members. The Night Nurse even spoke with me about the books I had bought and about my life in general, which doesn't seem like much but meant a lot to me as I was in pain and feeling quite overwhelmed from my surgery. They definitely provide very person centred care. I was also impressed with the small details that make your stay slightly better, such as the comfort and food at Mcindoe. I was in a well equipped room with everything I could possibly need, my bed was comfortable, and my room was very quiet (which I was incredibly impressed with since I was right next to the operating theatre). The food there was delicious. Unfortunately after surgery I did not have a huge appetite, but the food I did eat was lovely and presented beautifully. The kitchen offered many options for food and had unlimited pots of tea and jugs of water. The kitchen staff were also very kind as I expressed that I didn't want to eat much and waste their food, and they adjusted accordingly, offering me alternatives where possible. I received the best care I have ever experienced at Mcindoe, and I could not recommend it enough.

The whole team at The McIndoe Centre are excellent. From the host who showed me to my room, to the nurse in charge of my care and the surgical team, I cannot fault them. Even as a day patient, I was given a private room with en-suite facilities and offered food after the procedure (a hand-made sandwich, not out of a packet!!). I don't know many hospitals where they make you feel as welcome, and even make you laugh. My discharge was organised and I was given everything I needed to take home. I thoroughly recommend the McIndoe Centre.

I had breast surgery at the McIndoe in October 2022 and had a fantastic experience. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The nurses were fantastic - they put me at ease before my surgery and helped me so much afterwards. Even down to helping me wash and dress but still keeping my dignity. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they were amazing.. I would without a doubt recommend the McIndoe Centre.

The staff at the McIndoe centre were lovely and really assisted with my recovery. All the little details - cleanliness of the room, attentiveness of the nurses checking the very important DVT machine and monitoring my blood pressure etc helped me feel well cared for. I was surprised by how I felt after surgery - I could not even move my shoulders to get more comfortable. It's vital that the nursing staff are highly observant, switched on and approachable because surgery is not without risk. They were very attentive to me but I did reach out to them. If I needed something - I rang the buzzer. Patients should be encouraged to ask for help if they need it - however small their concern seems. The anaesthetist described what the effects of the medication would be which was reassuring and useful to know. Pain medication is an area which needs to be discussed. The drugs needed after surgery are very strong. I would have liked to have been given a booklet on pain medication - that is my one suggestion. I found the booklet on the risk of blood clots very informative and helpful and was pleased that the hospital have DVT machines. I would definitely recommend the McIndoe centre.
