I recently had an operation and the staff were wonderfully considerate and caring. My only concern was that the room was chilly when we arrived for my operation in the morning. We tried altering the thermostat but it didn't make any difference. This then left me pretty cold and created difficulty when trying to get the cannula in and taking any bloods. I had been left the gown and stockings to get on myself which was fine but there was such a lot of activity in and out of the room, male nurses included, it left me a bit stressed as I was unable to just get changed, especially as the male nurse didn't wait for an answer after knocking. I could cope with this in a normal situation but pre-op, left me a bit more unsettled that I was hoping to be. As I said, the nurses were just incredible but I just feel that it could have been hugely improved with a warm room and staff remembering to knock and wait.
