23rd March 2021

I was a patient for the day on 16th March 2021 and I was booked in to have a procedure on the Greenwood Day Surgery Unit. I suffer terribly with Osteoarthritis in both knees and have trouble walking a great distance, I was told that the walk from the entrance to the hospital to the unit was a challenging one, so I knew that it would be best for me to take my wheels to walk with, especially as it hasn't been long since recovering from an Arthritic Flare that I've had since last September. I could not fault the nurses or my Dr who was Dr Subhash Kandikattu, they were all very friendly, caring and just really lovely. However, after my procedure it was time for me to be discharged and they insisted on calling the porter to take me down by wheelchair, I had one bag which I had on my knees, and I said to the porter that I also had my wheels that needed to come with me. This seemed to cause him great problems and difficulties, pushing me and carrying my wheels and he liked to tell everyone we passed what a job this was, and how i had put him out and how his hands were hurting from carrying my wheels too. I even offered to hold them for him, but he declined my offer. At the time I did laugh it off, but afterwards I felt quite aggrieved and angry as to why he treated me like that, while taking me from the Unit back to the entrance of the hospital. Would he have said the same thing to another man, or an elderly lady, if the answer is no then why treat me like that. What was a nice experience in another hospital that I was concerned about, has now been tainted by the porter for treating me in that manner. If I had to go again I still would have to take my wheels, but I now know what would be coming from the porter, when I would be discharged and that now fills me with dread.

Another visit to this great hospital today. Both my wife and I have been or are being treated there and both agree the whole experience is amazing, especially when considered against other such places. The place is spotlessly clean, very efficient, with terrific staff who all seem to be happy and enjoying their job. From the moment you arrive at the reception desk, to the time you leave, it is a pleasant experience.

The care you receive at Stamford Hospital is excellent. There is plenty of free parking, the staff are extremely friendly and you are always seen on time and very efficiently. I cannot praise them enough and if I'm given a choice of hospitals I always choose Stamford.

I have just finished having my biopsy results which turned out to be basal cell carcinoma. I have also visited this hospital for back pain and physio and a broken ankle a few yrs ago. I am always UTTERLY AMAZED at the treatment care i received and how nice the staff are. I NEVER had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen or treated. I originally come from Essex where you would wait YEARS to get an appt let alone anything else.I moved to Stamford 18 mths ago and must sat people who live in these areas do not know how LUCKY they are. Stamford hospital and ALL the nurses and doctors who removed my Basal Cell Carcinoma by my eye and the after care and follow up biopsy report were all second to none. Thank you , you all deserve some well needed praise. Glynis Payne Barnack Village

I attended Greenwood Ward at Stamford and Rutland Hospital on 14/4/16 and I must give praise to all the nurses and ancillary staff who were most helpful and courteous at all times. The theatre staff were friendly but efficient and put me at my ease which is a great skill.
