St Thomas’ hospital is second to none. Whether at my consultations or on the day of surgery all the staff with whom I ache into contact were informative, professional, inspiring and caring. The consultations and pre clinical assessments were on time, informative and helpful ensuring my travel and physical visits (I was coming in from Kent) were kept to a minimum.
On the day of surgery too all again was pristine and professional. The wait as a result of more serious cases explained and understandable.
The surgical team too were brilliant pre and post the operation as was the after-care to ensure I was fit to travel home.
I should like to thank everybody involved in this morning's procedure (no doubt expressing it crudely) to replace the battery in my pacemaker. The no. of individuals involved is quite amazing & everything ran like clockwork which meant I was able to be back at home by lunchtime.
The care and consideration I benefited from was absolutely first class and the premises were sparkly clean.
Thanks again.
My dad was admitted to CCU and the care he received was excellent. The staff kept us informed throughout his stay. They treated him (and us) with respect and compassion. He was kept comfortable and what I consider to be basic nursing care was evident throughout. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble.
I was having a hysterectomy, I had to report to the day surgery unit, I asked if I was being admitted after my op, and was told it depends whether a bed was booked, this is not what you want to hear just before an operation, I actually stayed 2 nights, the staff were mostly very caring, but not really helpful when I was leaving, was told I would need blood thinning injections whilst waiting for medication before leaving the ward, I was not shown how to do these injections, nor was I given a sharps box, I had to wait over 5 hours for medication from the hospital pharmacy, when I was able to eventually leave the ward I had to carry my own bag down to the entrance where my daughter had to wait, while I understand covid restrictions I was not happy having to carry my bag after this kind of operation, I was also given no aftercare instructions.
I think when people go to hospital for surgery they want to know what will happen not the uncertainty of have I got a bed after, a hysterectomy is quite major surgery, some aftercare should be given about what you should and should not do
Yesterday, 4 October, I attended the outpatient eye clinic for a follow-up appointment after an initial referral appointment before Covid.
I was very impressed with the care and attention from all the team, from registering at reception to the consultation post scan. In particular I also wish to express my appreciation for the time invested in ensuring that I understood the findings of my retinal scans by the consultant, Mr Nigel Davies.
Many thanks again.
Having fallen in the street and broken my wrist, I was taken to Urgent Care and seen by the lovely doctor who stayed with me throughout the whole process of blood tests, X-rays and a cat scan. It was planned that I would have surgery the following day as the break was severe. However my blood works caused some concern and I was asked to go to A&E that evening for more tests. I received the same caring and intensive treatment there. Following two informative calls from orthopaedic surgeons, I had surgery yesterday and stayed for one and a half days on George Perkins Ward. The staff are lovely, efficient,
helpful and caring and I am so grateful to all of them. So impressed with St. Thomas Hospital! Thank you!
Thorough care at A&E. Thanks to the nurses and cardiology team for their attention for my dad
I attended the ED dept at St Thomas on Tuesday night with my son who developed palpitations secondary to having a sickle cell crisis.
From the booking nurse, to all the ED nurses, doctors who participated in my son's care I just want to say a BIG heart felt THANK-YOU!
In view of Covid I
was not allowed to accompany my son which is understandable however i was in
constant
communication with my son through texting via his mobile.
He shared that the ED Dr's contacted his Haematology/sickle team @ Guys for help with there decision making to me this gives me so much confidence in the care the ED Dr's provided.
Along with all the test and investigations they performed . when i ili sten to the news and see what happens in other parts of the world in view of health care services I thank God i was born in the UK and I wish other countries could adopt this same national health service as its name speaks volumes.
So thank you to St Thomas NHS ED dept for your care.
Terrible unprofessional training doctors, would not trust my dogs life to them , i broke my elbow by falling of the bicycle, all they did it is made an exray, gave me lots of morphine and told me to come back in a week time and if i can't move hand they will do an operation, what a great NHS care , I told them that I am allergic to paracetamol, if I would not ask them what tablet they give me , they would kill me, they wanted to give me paracetamol,
From A&E and surgery through to physiotherapy and post-op care, everyone was fantastic. Even during the COVID-19 crisis, I was seen at A&E in good time by a very helpful and thorough doctor and plastics consultant, and was given an appointment at the hand trauma unit the next day. Mr Ricardo Tejero and his team fixed up my hand while taking every care to make sure I felt relaxed and safe. And the physio team, particularly Alex Gregory, helped me for many weeks afterwards. My scar is barely noticeable and movement is more or less as before. It sounds weird, but aside from the initial accident, the whole thing was a pleasure from start to finish!
