Ever since I highlighted serious misconduct at this hospital, I have been victimised by hospital staff and this has prejudiced the medical care to which I am entitled as a taxpayer. When i contacted external agencies about alleged corruption at the hospital, the hospital wrote telling me I had been thrown off my consultant's list for "non-attendance of an appointment". I had been chasing this appointment for 4 months, because it was due in Dec 16, but never materialised - in my view, in retaliation for exposing criminal conduct. In chasing month after month for this appointment which never materialised, I had made it very clear as to the seriousness of my symptoms and deterioration of my condition. This was supposed to be a regular appointment with my consultant of several years. My appointments always came through until I exposed alleged corruption. After I highlighted the alleged corruption, I was told I had been placed on a "waiting list" to see my consultant. That had never happened in 5 years. In any event, no appointment letter was ever received for the alleged appointment in April. The letter throwing me off the consultant's books was dated the same day as the alleged appointment and I believe, posted the same day (or sooner) because it reached me the very next day. In May 17, I requested a copy of the hospital appointment letter that had allegedly been posted to me. I received no response. If this letter existed, it should take 2 minutes to print off the system. I then made a subject access request under the DPA for a copy of the alleged appointment letter. Again, no response within the statutory deadline. I reported it to the Office of the Information Commissioner. They instructed the hospital to provide me with a copy of the letter. Again, no answer. (The OIC unfortunately has no enforcement powers so can do nothing where an organisation fails to comply). In September 17, I raised a complaint with the hospital about the fact that no appointment ever existed and I had been victimised for exposing NHS corruption. The hospital failed to respond. In Oct 17 I sent a chaser. No response. In early Nov 17 I resent the complaint by special del - it was received and signed for but again the hospital failed to respond. I wrote to the Chief Exec asking for a response - again, no response. It is obvious the hospital cannot produce the letter or they would have produced it. If it existed, there would be nothing contentious about providing a copy; there is no legal basis for withholding it. The fact that individuals working in a hospital environment could stoop to such unethical conduct is one thing - but the fact the hospital's management obviously condones it and rather than identify and sack the individual/s responsible is instead simply refusing to communicate, is all the more shocking. By refusing to demonstrate accountability and simply ignoring all my communications, I cannot go to PHSO because I do not have a final (or any) response. According to whistleblowers, this is a common tactic, as is denial of care in retaliation for complaints. In my view, the hospital's refusal to communicate is akin to an admission of guilt. I find it chilling that no one will be held accountable and that this discrimination against whistleblowers will therefore continue. It is obvious that the culture of corruption is from the top down, or the chief exec would have responded and distanced herself from her staff's behaviour. There is no accountability in the NHS and that is the only reason these unscrupulous individuals are brazen enough to do what they do - they are untouchable.
