Having not visited a hospital for nearly a decade, I have been forced to visit the A&E Department and more specifically the Urgent Care section at St Thomas’s Hospital twice in the last six weeks, one for a standard cooking injury which required stitches but more recently due to a potential ACL following a football injury. I felt compelled to write and just say what an outstanding impression all the staff I came into contact with from beginning to end left on me. They were fabulous. And that began on arrival when a paramedic spotted me hobbling on crutches and immediately guided me to the correct desk and filled in the requisite form on my behalf. I had other members of staff who I happened to pass in the corrdidor asking if I needed the use of a wheelchair – it was all very slick and highly impressive. The staff in the unit itself were amazing and incredibly thorough. It wasn’t/isn’t obvious quite what the injury is due to the level of swelling still but the dedication to find out – and the communication in doing so – was first class. Regrettably, I am not going to remember names, but I just want to say a big thank you. There are bigger injuries and illnesses in the world than my knee, but to know there is this level of care and consideration available when accidents and injuries do happen is quite something. It should never be taken for granted. We're a step further along the line and I await an MRI scan, but I feel confident that the level of care I am receiving is of the highest quality. Thank you again to all the staff who helped me yesterday, I am really very grateful.
