Share review of St Richard's Hospital
Attended Emergency Department for head injury caused by trip & fall, headbutting the paving. The treatment I received, from triage examination to CT scan of head & neck, was good, thorough and well- executed. The staff were caring & professional and I've nothing but praise for them. However, the whole process took 6 hours. I appreciate that is probably quick by current NHS standards, given the chronic underfunding of the past, staff shortages & inadequate facilities, but it was nontheless frustrating for it to take so long and not to be kept informed unless I asked. Before attending SRH, I went to Bognor Hospital Minor Injury unit only to be turned away because it doesn't have any scanners. There's a mobile scanning trailer parked at Chichester University a mere half mile away!! Why not park it at Bognor Hospital and USE IT?!!!
As is usual across the NHS, patients were on gurneys, in two corridors. How much longer does this afront to decency in 2025 have to continue before the Govt bites the bullet, actually unblocks healthcare AND MAKES IT WORK.
PS. The NHS also needs to work smarter; no more 8am-6pm 5 days a week GPs & "Minor Injuries Clinics". People need treatment 7 days a week and more community based availability will take the pressures off Emergency Depts.
