St Peters Hospital has treated me for a number of medical conditions recently. This included being admitted to one of the wards as an in-patient. I have always been treated with dignity and respect. I have received first class care and medical treatment from all the doctors who have looked after me. I have no suggestions for improvement

Under the care of Mr Narvani for a shoulder replacement. Treated so well and kept informed throughout. My shoulder replacement is so successful that it has changed my life. I can now independently and can perform all tasks as I did before having a shoulder problem. Appointments are on time and I have been treated so well that I am so grateful to Mr Narvani

Review of Swift Ward - St Peter's
30th August 2023

This was my first experience as an in-patient at St. Peters and I was hugely impressed by every element of the care that I received - as reflected by the totally deserved maximum satisfaction scores I have given. What particularly stood out for me was the good-humoured, heplful and highly professional attitude of the Ward staff at every level. Despite being constantly under pressure they always responded positively to the needs that I and my fellow patients had. I should add another plaudit that is not covered in this patient experience survey. This regards the meals that were served to me during my stay on Swift Ward. In summary, they were first-class - not at all what I had expected - and deserve highlighting. Both the selection and food quality were excellent.

Suggested improvements
There were genuinely no areas of patient care that I received that were in my view were below standard or where improvements needed to be made.

Review of Urgent Treatment Centre - Adult
16th August 2023

All the staff were brilliant. They all seemed to be friendly and getting along with each other which helped the mood. But the cramped space made life difficult. Having to be constantly moved during the assessment phase and then waiting for a bed to be freed up on a ward. The porters seemed to be most times just moving us around in the queue. I was there on a day when the junior doctors were on strike, so A&E was manned by consultants, so I probably got more experienced hands. Even so it’s probably not a bad thing that the consultants get reminded of the experience the other way, every now and again.

Suggested improvements
I may have this wrong but it seemed to me (laying there for 9 hours) that if there was an emergency ward, with another 20 trolleys, then there wouldn’t need to be trolleys in corridors. I appreciate that you would still have to wait for a bed on a ward, is required for admission, but if one was not available then at least the emergency ward could double up as an overflow. It seems like we have a growing and aging population that relies on and efficient A&E department that hasn’t grown to match. Appreciate that funding and space is needed for this and selling off the area where the staff use to park ( my wife works in the hospital) May have given funds but at the expense of the space.

Review of Musculoskeletal - St Peter's
15th August 2023

1. I telephonically confirmed MRI appointment 24 hrs prior. Arrived and told "it is not until tomorrow" 2. Returned for MRI scan. Told by MRI team to contact GP for follow up. GP refuses and informs me to contact iMSK team. I contact them and am told they will call me to book appointment. Still waiting 5 weeks later despite calls and emails to them. 3. Requested MRI images in order to expedite via private healthcare. Refused on "security" grounds. But at least I was contacted to make an appointment to discuss statins! Maybe when I am able to stand or walk we could then address slightly elevated cholesterol?

Suggested improvements
Anything and everything. Just total institutional paralysis in NHS

Review of Diabetes/Endocrinology and Thyroid Clinic - St Peter's
19th July 2023

My two visits to this center was horrible as I had gestational diabetes after my scan I had to wait for more than 2 hours for the consultation. But after the wait it was total waste of time as I was seen by some clinical fellow not a consultant. He didn’t have any idea about diabetes and he was telling I have to take thyroid medication but my TSH levels where normal as my GP spoke to me. The second visit was today and the same person was there and I was told i will called next but was pushed to the 4th place I waited about 2 and half hours and came back home as I don’t want to see that same clinical fellow. If the consultants are on strike then why are still holding the appointments and inexperienced clinical persons are there. Which is a total waste of time for everyone. I am totally disappointed with the service in there on these two occasions.

I received exceptional service from all involved with my care. I had my hip replaced by an extremely caring surgeon Mr Tsialogiannis, I felt he gave me such confidence in the procedure, a very caring friendly young man. It took only 5 months from the first time I went to see Mr Tsialogiannis to the time I had the operation. I had no pain from my surgery whatsoever, I didn’t need any pain medication, a first class operation and service, thank you again Mr Tsialogiannis for your professional service, Mrs Pauline Mitchell Hospital number 823134p
