St Peter's Hospital
Review of NICU - St Peter's,
1st August 2020
We struggled to understand what would be happening due to the Coronavirus restrictions. Often advice we were given was contradicted by the next shift, and in particular we struggled with the fact that there was little communication between Joan Booker and NICU when Mum was downstairs and baby upstairs. For example, we did not know that Joan Booker wanted to discharge mum until they asked us whether we were ready to leave, when NICU wanted us near to help establish breast feeding.
All the NICU staff were exemplary; kind, polite and and we know that all issues were all caused by the exceptional circumstances. Finally being able to room in was a godsend and the facilities were excellent.
