The PICU team were amazing. We were all well looked after during our sons long stay and made some good friends. We owe our sons life to them.

I was in the Trauma ward following an operation on my neck vertebrae. The care I received was exemplary and all staff were always pleased to answer any questions I had as well as provide assistance whenever needed without any excessive interruption or interference. Very Very pleased with the WHOLE of my treatment whilst in Hospital. Thanks very much.

I have just read the very specific review written by a patient who either was, or at least felt, very badly treated. That is a sad situation; however, I would only like to add that his/her opinion that 'some' of the glowing reviews offered were not genuine seems to show a misunderstanding of the process; and if that patient misunderstands such a system I cannot help wondering if he/she also misunderstands many other things. awh

St Mary's is a difficult place to negotiate, especially on the first few visits. It is a warren, grown almost randomly within the physical structures but not particularly organically: many parts seem add-ons as they are needed. However, that is just the buildings. I have always, in many visits over the last four years, found every member of staff, at every level I have encountered them, to be utterly committed to the welfare and support of patients and visitors. They are fully understanding, invariably kind and scrupulously helpful at all times. St Mary's is a powerful advertisement for the NHS; though, because of the nature of the buildings, you would never offer the hospital as a visual advert. A radio broadcast would do the job, I am sure. Frankly, I would far rather have a ramshackle building with glowing staff than a spanking new hospital with half-baked employees. I want to tell the whole world about the marvellous qualities of St Mary's - and, indeed, I always do tell anyone who asks as well as lots of people who don't.
