The lifts aren't very good. There is only ever 1 or 2 working.

The Nurses and all the support staff that looked after me before, during and after my surgery were very professional and treated me with dignity, kindness and respect. The only issue I had was there was no where for my husband to park! Parking is very limited in the area so I would highly recommend taking a taxi.

Although the operation went well and some of the staff were wonderful (e.g. the lady that was in charge of the ward overnight) there were too many of the nursing staff for whom you felt that I was just another patient who should be quiet and not bother them during their work! Frankly the 3 star average is only because (a) the doctor was excellent (b) there were a couple of the nursing staff who smiled and were genuinely helpful.

My Surgery was done in Charing Cross hospital. After the surgery I was looked after well but after 2 days they decided to discharge me and I had problems when I came home so after a day I was taken back to the hospital.

The Pediatric infectious diseases team at st Mary’s is world class. We were seamlessly transferred from a&e. Along with the a&e team and the nurses on the ward, they caught and treated my daughter’s meningitis extremely early and so far she is doing really well, which I will always be so grateful to them for. We were kept informed every step of the way, no question was too small and my well-being as a worried mum was taken into account too. I am impressed that the team not only comprises excellent Drs, but that they are also conducting cutting edge research. I knew we were in the safest and best hands from the moment we walked through the door. After care in follow ups has been excellent too. Particularly excellent Drs included Elizabeth Whitaker, dr Tudor Williams, Beate Kampmann, Justin, Kier and Yuheng. Excellent nurses included Grace, Taz and Natasha.

My stay in St Mary's was my first real experience of the NHS. I was blown away by the high standard of care i received. What has particularly stayed with me is the compassion and kindness shown to me by everyone i came across from the neurosurgeons to the cleaners. What upset me most is to learn that the student nurses do not get paid for the extremely important and valuable care they provide. This seems highly unfair.
