Excellent, efficient, polite and competent staff who were all very kind and helpful.

You need to review the initial appointment letter you sending and in particular the explanation and instruction pages you are sending with it. You must send the right instruction pages for that particular patient. I had 5 sets of instruction pages before I got the right one after about 5-6 phone calls. eg 1. Asking patient to bringing a dressing gown when you are providing a gown. I wasted money in buying one. 2. I was asked to do a Lateral Flow Test on 14/8/22 and report to 119 when I had my colostomy on 15/8/22. It was only corrected after I queried the timing. Then I was told to do it on 12/8/22. 3. You are asking to bring covid vaccination certificates when no one eveen bothered to check it. 4. I was sent wrong medicine for bowl preparation and this was only corrected at a very late stage and even then the wrong instructions were sent but corrected after I queried by phone call. I could do all above as I am educated but many uneducated patient or those who can't speak English wouldn't have been able to do this.

Lovely atmosphere in the procedure room, I was able to follow everything that was going on. Very professional and caring treatment and a good working, respectful relationship between those involved. Nice badinage. All female team (which definitely helps) and because I had had the procedure before, I was able to relax and ask questions. Occasional gas and air used (I was in control), but not much and I didn't need or want sedation. Felt comfortable, everyone helpful and friendly.

Suggested improvements
I don't think you could have improved on anything. Happy with all stages from beginning to end. I was expecting a long wait, but there wasn't one. I waited longer to get a cab home!

I attended my follow-up colonoscopy procedure on the 15th June 22 at St Marks Hospital. St Marks Hospital provides an excellent care and support for bowel issues. The team that carried out my colonoscopy were friendly, kept me informed at each stage plus organizing the next follow up session when the procedure was completed. I had the same excellent experience in June 21. I would like to thank the following team who carried out the colonoscopy who made a difficult process very easy and are a credit to St Marks Hospital & the NHS: Endoscopist: Dr Adam Haycock SSP's : Den & Honey Nurses: Adel & Jocelyn

On the whole the staff were attentive, efficient and kind but I felt they overstretched a lot of the time, maybe due to staff shortages.

Suggested improvements
I was due to be discharged in the morning but ended up having to wait until 4pm for my medication to be delivered by the pharmacy. For the last three hours or so I was beginning to think something had gone wrong. It was intolerable.

Amazing care always received at St Mark. I had left a message with the IBD Nurse to email me my blood test results and Lisa promptly sent them to me, much appreciated!

The individuals involved in my were excellent, it seemed however that they are hampered by poor processes and organisation - e.g. no sharing of information with the patients or among themselves.

Processes and information should be made available to the patient at every stage of their treatment and presented clearly and communicated properly
