I had a benign brain tumour removed in 2022. The operation was successful and I am tumour free. The excellence of the surgical team at Atkinson Morley Unit is second to none and the care I received on the ward was exceptional. I am extremely grateful for the inpatient care I received. However, there is no information about what to expect post op, and there have been many post op issues. It’s still major surgery after all. An information leaflet would have been great - I know that many other hospitals do this. Also, once you are discharged, my impression is if your tumour was benign, even though you were told it will kill you, you are just shoved aside with no follow up appointments offered. You are made to feel you are not important. So I have very mixed feelings about this hospital. Surgery and inpatient care great, after that it seems they don’t care!
