I attend for regular blood tests and can concur that recently there have been delays due to the nurse needing to attend to the wards before dealing with out patients but I believe this has to do with being short staffed, so that a single nurse has to deal with the duties of two and nothing to do with them "ticking boxes" and "getting pay checks", besides, don't NHS staff deserve paychecks? It's a job, not a hobby however despite the pressure, I've always found the staff to be courteous and friendly and fully professional in their role. A big thank you to all of them.

I came in this morning to have a blood test taken. Bumped into the phlebotomist in my way in who was on her way out. I asked about the procedure and she advised me to take a ticket. She stated it would be her doing the blood test however she has to go to the ward and she'll be right back. I responded with no worries and waited. I waited for a while but assumed she forgot as I was the only person waiting at the time. I waited for about half an hour before I asked another nurse (in a room of 3 staff) how long does she think I would have to wait, she responded stating it depends what ward the phlebotomist has gone to so I asked if there was anyone else that can take my blood and she responded no there is only one phlebotomist and there is usually one anyway. She then went to state that phlebotomists have to go to the ward because 'that's part of their job' to which I responded - 'right thanks' and sat back down. I found this nurse extremely patronising and very rude. I was just asking how long it would take as I'd have to plan my day ahead and I get very anxious at times. The way the nurse spoke was as if I was not aware that tending to wards was part of the phlebotomists job and spoke to me as if I were a child and left me feeling really bad about myself. I have depression and anxiety and staff like this is the reason why I am so hesitant to go to NHS services. This nurse came across as if she were in her 50s with glasses and blond/light brown curly hair to her shoulders. If managment happen to come across this review and know exactly who I'm talking about could you just please tell her to be more empathetic and not assume that everyone is an entitled brat, which is the way she spoke to me. She was in one of the rooms on the side hallway, third one down. Phlebotomist came down a few moments after (40 mins in total) and aplogised for taking so long, which she didn't have to but I really appreciated the gesture. She was really kind and caring towards me. Thank you Thank you

It's just about ticking boxes and getting their pay checks, with most of them never experiencing the concerns you present about your child, as they say can't take your word for it your not a professional and takes them years to give a diagnosis. So I would not recommend this hospital if you are a nhs patient as you can be waiting a long time for someone to get back to you as they always taking holidays. They don't take the seriousness of concern into consideration if it not in the textbook and guidelines. The reason I say this is because I have been going to st David hospital, bare in mind was referred by a health professional ( health visitor ) since my daughter was 2!!! She is now 4 months away from being 8 years old. The impact this has had on her is immense :( what are they doing!!! Still no help, maybe if I was 35 own my own homes and was married maybe the would of taken me seriously. ONE MESSED UP SYSTEMS

Exactly what the person above said! I’ve never met such rude nurses! Made to feel unwelcome as a relative! When my grandfather has needed the bathroom they’ve taken over half hour to deal with him & even then I’ve been barked at when I live asked for someone to help. The only decent nurse there is Solomon who at least tries to treat the patients with respect and dignity. I’m heartbroken that my family member is there to be honest! Wouldn’t recommend at all.

As a family member. I felt unwelcome. Treated strangely. Not involved in my family memeber care. Sort of discriminated and my opinions ignored in regard to my family member. Was somewhat a strange rude experience. I certainly will not as a new comer to Texas pick the hospital to be my choice for care.
