Sadly this facility is under funded and outdated. How it is supposed to help anyone recuperate during mental health crisis I do not know. It is being run from a mental health act passed in 1983 without the amendments of 2017 being adhered to. No one sleeps because the doors slam all day and night as the maintenance is so behind. I was very lucky and got home leave to complete my section 2 …I truly wish that this was available to all the poor souls that get lost in St Cadoc’s Manchester Triage system. I wish the original gothic building could facilitate those who are waiting for housing solutions as at present it is just wasted and the gardens and park be used to help rehabilitate the patients with the help of the infrequent but valuable outreach program ‘Growing Space’

Some of the staff at St Cadoc's Hospital were very considerate towards with me and they attempted to assist me with my trauma. However others were not. I was on one occasion held down by seven or eight nurses and forcibly injected against my will. One female nurse whom I suspected of being 'high' on drugs although I cannot verify this asked me if I wanted sex with her having pointed to an open doored bedroom just down the corridor from the medication room. As I said some staff were very considerate but some were not which only added to my trauma.

My uncle stayed in St Cadocs but he had issue with his psychiatrist. He enjoyed St Cadoc’s and other staff were very helpful, and they prepared him for leaving.

Hospital is what you make it.. If all you want to do is sit around, do nothing, be obstructive and just watch television and smoke all day, you are wasting both your time and that of the staff. You might as well stay home.. If on the other hand, you are pleasant to the staff, they will be wonderful back and help you as much as they can.. The staff are there to facilitate YOUR recovery, you have to work at it yourself.. The ward is beautifully clean, the majority of the patients will do all they can to help you themselves, the food just cannot be beaten, and the vast majority of staff are lovely..

Totally agree with the previous review. This place is a joke to mental health services. The staff don't look after or care for patients. They never ask how your feeling or have decent conversations with you. They control the patients like convicts and offer nearly no OT for the patients. I had a nurse openly lie to the useles psychiatrist saying I picked up a knife at dinner time and said hitch. I did no such thing. If you have life issues and have a mental health history this is used against you at will. A couple of the nurses were ok but on the whole they don't care. There's little to do apart from smoking and watching TV. Food is rubbish and the wards are not private and sleep is not possible with loud snorrers. Laptops n lighters are not allowed by patients and visors aren't allowed on the ward. Total joke of a place.

This hospital is terrible and ought to be closed down. The staff are aggressive, obnoxious, poorly trained, rude and ill-disciplined. The food is terrible, beds disgusting, quality of doctors totally appalling. There is hardly any occupational therapy and staff view you more as a prisoner than a patient. The staff will openly lie and do there utmost to make your stay an unpleasant one. Over the years the freedom of patients has been eroded. The hospital has a terrible reputation with the public and deservedly so. It is a disgrace to the NHS.
