I can only say that I have been an out patient at Barts for about 9 years. I have also had numerous scans and a few procedures. Each time I was made to feel completely at ease and well looked after. I cannot make any suggestions to improve the care given by Barts.

I was transferred from my local hospital to Barts on Jubilee Friday with chest pains. I was in theatre almost immediately for investigation and some "heart-pipe-clearing" and then sent to an isolation ward as I had tested positive for the dreaded COVID. I had 3 stents fitted on the following Tuesday and released back home the next day. I am due back at Barts in about a month for a fourth stent to be fitted. Throughout my stay in Barts I was treated with unfailing respect, courtesy and kindness. Although I was in an isolation word, I had a steady stream of "visitors" to carry out tests and simply to see if I was OK. My experience at Barts was overwhelmingly positive. Can I also give a positive mention to my local hospital, Queens Romford, which does not always get good reviews. My experience on the day was also overwhelmingly positive. My daughter drove me to A&E with chest pains. I was checked in and diagnosed as suffering a heart attack within less than 10 minutes and I was on my way to Barts under "blues and twos" well within 15 minutes. I cannot fault the performance of the NHS on the day. Thank you very much to all the staff involved.

I am SO impressed with the staff. My appointment was for a Saturday and all the staff who were obviously working overtime to clear the backlog due to Covid, were professional, good humoured, kind and efficienct. I cannot begin to thank them enough. Wonderful people. No improvement necessary.

We had a nurse named Linda who was so lovely and caring, she was very understanding and easy to talk to. She treated us with care and we felt so well looked after. We wish all nurse and doctors could have the same attitude and caring touch. I came as a carer for my patient who has an EUPD and she was so pleased with Linda’s treatment it made her feel at ease.

Everyone from top to bottom knows their job and seeks the best for the patient. I cannot suggest improvement because I found nothing wrong at all! Mention bien, Richard D Wood-Kneller FCA

Although when we saw staff they were polite and professional, the time waiting without any indication of where we were in the scheme of things was unbearable. It was not clear who we should ask. The actual time spent with staff during a 5 1/2 hour visit was about an hour which included 3 lots of personal care and distribution of refreshments. Whilst we appreciate it was an A&E dept and there may have been more urgent cases, my mother-in-law is 98 ad was attending under extreme protest because an X-ray was deemed necessary. As she has been bed-bound since her last visit to Whipps (a 12-hour travesty of ‘care’), we were obliged to wait for hospital transport (2 hours) and she was returned to her care home at 13.30pm. As far as I am aware there is no other way to access treatments so elderly patients are continually subjected to this scenario. Surely we can do better for our elderly? Otherwise we might as well bump them off.

Suggested improvements
Information - who to speak to, an idea of a patient’s position in the queue, a better-organised transport system, a better understanding of how elderly and sick people feel being pushed around in chairs or uncomfortable stretchers when every bump and knock is painful. The construction of the hospital is not conducive to comfort either - numerous bumps on the way in and out for ambulances to negotiate, bumps on the pedestrian route to a cubicle, lack of automatic doors (which are only just wide enough), cubicles not large enough for easy transfer of stretcher cases from ambulance stretcher to hospital bed, or for 2 staff to carry out personal care
