Review of Device Clinic 5 - SBH written by a patient

I have trouble, when ringing the clinic, to talk to anyone. Then when I was waiting for my appointment on the 11th Jan. 2019, I noticed that the two gentlemen sitting at reception didn’t answer the phone calls and would spend time on the mobile phone, if they weren’t attending to patients. It is most frustrating as a patient not to be able to get through to the clinic. Please answer the phone, a patient is probably wanting some help!

This was our first time at St Bartholomew's but we were very impressed. When we came up for our pre-op we had a blood test and chest X-ray and the organisation was excellent. The staff were very very good and reassured us and help us whenever necessary.

We felt that the staff worked totally as a team/family and we experienced a great ambiance whilst there . Pre and post operative appointments have all been without incidents and we are forever thankful of a successful outcome . Keep up the good work and our best wishes to you all

Hi this Hospital is quite good, good doctors and everything its good during the day,but exept evenings and weekends ,if you are an inpatient ,there are some nurses who don't care about their patients,my mother had a bad experience in the first days .I dont want to tell more because its a long story,She was an inpatient in two hospitals from London and it was the same the doctors are great and very kind and helpfull ,but is just some of the nurses who are not doing their job as they need.I think the hospitals must put videocamera in every room ,thats all thanks and I hope you will have a good experience ,thanks

I was recently an inpatient in Barts who had cardiac surgery. The hospital is spotlessly clean and the hygiene standards excellent. The majority of staff were kind and caring - especially the Health Care Support Workers on the Ward as well as the catering team. Regrettably, I found the Junior Doctors' attitude inexcusable. They rushed around Intensive Care talking very loudly about individual patients. I had them discuss (while standing at the foot of my bed) the death of a patient & the terrible health condition of another. In addition, they hurried away 'gleefully' discussing how quick the round had taken. It was awful and really upsetting. Someone in authority should remind them that patients in Intensive Care are vulnerable human beings who (although are physically weak) are mentally strong and can hear and understand what is being said!

My husband recently had an angiogram and stent at Barts hospital after a sudden unexpected admission to hospital with chest pain. This was his first experience of hospital of which he was terrified and needle phobic. The staff on 3D on 5/11/2018 were all very kind, compassionate and understanding of his phobias and patiently explained everything and gave him time to understand the process from the health care assistants, staff nurses and advanced nurse practitioner they all provided an excellent service. The doctors did a wonderful job and he is now home recovering. Barts was very clean, the staff professional at all times as a nurse of many years in the NHS they were all exceptional.
