The care I received during day surgery and follow up appointments was excellent.
From the moment I arrived everybody was very obliging with a smile on their face and I cannot praise the team enough, thank youuuuuuu
Before my operation date I attended the seminar for knee replacements at St Albans City Hospital on the recommendation of my surgeon, Mr Spiegelberg. It was very informative & interesting & I was glad I had gone.
On my admission day into ward De La Mare I was met by friendly & reassuring staff. I cannot praise them all enough for their care, understanding in painful times, helpfulness in personal matters & thoughtful care through out my 4 day stay. Also the physiotherapists for their advise & incouragement especially in the first few painful days!
Nice hospital
I had a lumbar discectomy in August. All staff despite being busy were attentive, professional and very friendly. I really can't my fault my stay and so far my sciatica is gone (thanks Dr Bilaji)!
Clean & tidy & the staff are always polite & helpful.
All the staff I saw were cheerful and well motivated.
The ambiance was pleasant and reassuring.
The rooms were well maintained and seemed well equipped.
Everywhere was clean.
I was very well cared for.
My appointment was for a routine AAA screening. I have been previously, this being a yearly monitoring visit. I could not have been treated better, both staff were extremely good and the explanation about moving to the 3 monthly monitoring was very helpful.
My experiences as a day patient at St Albans Hospital have all been positive. They include two cataract removal surgeries and three for relief of carpal tunnel syndrome. Surgeons work both here and in private practice and I can't believe that private patients receive any better use of their skills than I have as an NHS one.
Nursing staff are well versed in dealing with each speciality, with the small wards having nurses dedicated to each so that they can answer questions or deal with anxieties while patients wait for their turn to come. Post-op cups of tea and toast are offered without hesitation and care is taken that recovery is given sufficient time before anyone leaves.
My wish is that the main part of the hospital could be re-opened and finances allocated from central government to allow so high a standard of care to be given to residents of the city once again without their having to travel to (and from) hospitals elsewhere.
Well friendly and helpful staff. Easy access for parking.
