Either the receptionist at Runcie Wing this morning (4th Sept) needs further system training, or else the computer system needs a radical overhaul. There was along queue of people being asked question after question, sometimes more than once
I was treated for Breast Cancer at ST Albans . At the time the surgeon and Breast care nurse seemed caring .however, I changed my mind about the route of my treatment unfortunately the surgeon did not agree and continued down the original line . I have been left with unequal sizing in breast . Continuous pain in the affected breast and the NHS will not cover the treatment that I had been told I would get .
I feel totally let down by my surgeon and would never go back or recommend them to anyone .
My advice to anyone unfortunate to be diagnosed with cancer is to do your own research and do not be swayed by the empty promises that they give you .
Stand up for yourself .I did not do either of these thinking that I was under the care of caring professionals . Never again would I trust ‘professionals’ with their advice .
I was actually submitted at Spire in Harpenden Clinic which was just lovely.
From the staff and care just amazing, felt like I was there for my Spa Day then actually small surgery :)
I have had a number of procedures on my knees at this hospital and have always had a good experience. Any staff I encountered were always polite, respectful and caring ensuring I was well looked after. I was kept well informed about what was happening and the staff were knowledgeable about my situation. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this section of the hospital.
On 3rd October 2022 I was admitted to De La Mare Ward to have a total hip replacement operation.
I cannot speak too highly of the treatment and care I received from the Consultant, Mr Spiegelberg, his registrar, anaesthetists, the nurses and porters who treated and cared for me. Every single person was so kind and helpful. The Ward was spotlessly clean.
I thank all concerned for making my three day stay as comfortable as possible and providing details of after care.
Indeed every visit to this hospital has been as good an experience as you could wish for. Every member of staff both pre and post op have been so professional and kind.

This was my second stay at St Albans city hospital and I was extremely happy with my care on both occasions. The hospital was excellent on every level especially the nursing care which was exemplary during both the day and the night shifts. From previous experience in other hospitals (both nhs and the private sector) I have found the care I received from the night shift staff to be very poor especially in comparison to the day shift nurses. Thankfully this didn't happen at St Albans and I didn't dread the night shift taking over as I had in other hospitals!
The Staff at Watford General Hospital were mostly very kind and helpful, although some of the night staff could have been better !!
I attended St Albans City Hospital for pre-op consultations and aftercare.
Everyone I came in contact with were professional, caring and polite.
I felt totally at ease and would like to thank them very much.
