Attended here for back surgery in November 2021. Received great care from a caring team. They could not do enough for me, clearly explained what was going to be happening and when, before and after my operation. I was treated with dignity and respect at all times. Can not recommend this place highly enough.
Seen at Murrayfield for mammogram, pre op bloods and surgery. Every member of staff I met was friendly, professional and kept me informed as what was going on. I was also treated with dignity. I stayed over night 27th October following breast reduction surgery, and I particularly want to mention the night nurse, Tracy who was an agency nurse from Falkirk. She was fabulous, knew exactly what pain relief I was likely to need and everything else post surgery. The 2am pot of tea and very lovely Borders Biscuits hit the spot.
Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist Dr Christopher Lang
Dismissive, distracted, unfamiliar with drugs relevant to specialty and forgot to arrange agreed follow up investigation.
I was treated very well by both nurses and surgeon, I was treated like a VIPand very much appreciate there care.
I had a vasectomy reversal performed there January 2018, my wife gave birth yesterday
Thank you so much,
My name Wayne Ellis
I only spent three day’s in hospital, for a hip replacement. During that time the staff were very pleasant, professional and curious.
The meals were of good standing and I have no complaints.
The only criticism I might have is I don’t see why people should be isolated in a box for their stay. I’m sure there may be a good medical reason for this..
I don’t often attend stay in hospital, the last time being when I had a heart attack and stent fitted. The stay in Spire was a better experience than the ERI.
Brilliant treatment from the whole team. Felt very cared for and safe during my stay. My partner was also treated well by the staff during her visits.
Food not too bad either.
I was treated very well with welcoming, friendly and caring people all around me. All staff from nurses caring in my room, pre theatre, theatre and recovery staff, Iwould have nothing but praise for those who looked after me.
I was a patient on your Ground Floor Ward Under Professor Alan McNeill between 9th and 12th July for a TURP.
I would like to record my thanks to all the staff who made my stay so comfortable and stress free, especially Staff Nurses Kelly and Megan.
My room was spacious with a pleasant outlook onto a lawn with trees behind.
I was very impressed with Professor McNeill's attention which gave me great peace of mind for the impending procedure, and his informative visits thereafter.
All the staff could not have been more caring and attentive, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Spire Murrayfield.

If you are going private looking for a diagnosis I would consider your options carefully before using Spire Murrayfield . The booking system is terrible with the phones always busy and reception staff unhelpful. The hospital does not provide a holistic approach in any sense, it is up to the patient to manage and go between specialists for diagnosis. I have been waiting a few months now for diagnosis and the wait for scans and follow up appointments has been disappointingly slow for private healthcare. Next time I would think twice about switching from NHS and getting lost in a money making hospital which is lacking in patient communication and central coordination and which I have totally lost faith in.
