My only quibble about my care is that I was given a drug I asked not to be given. My other complaint is about the food, which was, apart from a cheese toastie I had after my surgery, largely inedible. Not having seen a vegetable, I asked, on my last day, where I could get a vegetable. I was recommended the fish. The fish and broccoli looked lovely. Unfortunately the fish had the consistency of coconut matting and the broccoli had the consistence of plastic. I couldn’t even make a dent in it with my knife and fork. If it had been raw, I would have eaten it: this was appalling. What a waste of lovely food. My other meal was a huge plate of glutinous gnocchi, which stuck to the roof of the mouth, served with a tiny spoonful of sauce so stiff I had to cut it. I couldn’t swallow it. Truly hideous food.
