I was recently in this hospital for 5 days for a total hip replacement. My experience was far from favourable. My criticism is with the nursing, not the Surgeon who performed the operation or the Physio team which helped me recover afterwards. At no point did a nurse offer to wash me in the time I was there. I did not see the same nurse twice and some of the staff were inexperienced and not able to help me. If I rang the buzzer, it regularly took 10 minutes for a nurse to come. The day after my op I was left for 15 minutes on a full bedpan, not a comfy position after a hip op. The nurses often needed reminders to give me my drugs and there seemed to be no doctors around, even when at one point my blood pressure dropped very low. When I left the hospital I was simply given a carrier bag full of drugs without proper explanation. Maybe some of this is a general lack of nursing these days, with the idea of getting you out as soon as is humanly possible. This was not a good experience and I would not recomend. To top it all off, after I left, my husband and I complained, were told it would be looked into but no one from the hospital has followed through and got back to us. Not good..
