It was great to have the procedure which didn't involve having a general anaesthetic. The first few days post procedure were painful but manageable with pain relief . Did exactly what was asked of me to help my healing process .
I was in the Cotswold unit for gyno surgery and feel that there was nothing that needed to be improved.Becky the nurse and Samantha the care assistant were kind, helpful and made my stay very positive.many thanks in fact to all the staff from Medi room surgery to ward. in fact in the one night and two days I was in ,strange as it sounds I had fun!a lot of care and laughter
Cannot thank them enough!! Amazing.
Brillant care
All the staff were kind and responsive.
The food was very good, although for a patient with Type 1 diabetes there was only a choice of high carbohydrate foods at breakfast.
I was impressed by how many nurses and health care assistants there were on the surgical ward.
I have been there a number of times, both for myself and with/for my wife who has parkinson. I have yet to have a negative experience!
Hospital team covered up mistakes from a surgeon until I as a patient stopped it and demanded answers
I was in ICU and then a ward for a total of 4 days. The staff on ICU could not be faulted although there was a lack of clarity about the time my husband was allowed to stay (we are not local to the hospital) .
The quality of the food was an outstanding feature and I welcome the commitment to local provision of ingredients cooked on the premises. Each day there was a wide choice, cheerfully served with hot dishes arriving hot. I particularly enjoyed the chocolate and beetroot dessert, a recipe of the in-house chef I understand.
I have nothing but praise for Southmead. Every department treated me like a favourite grandfather.
P.S. I like the optimism - with an age rage up to 150
After an accident at Burnham on Sea I broke my leg and was taken initially to Weston Hospital (where the staff and my care was excellent) where I was x rayed. I required surgery and was moved over night to Bristol South Mead. I was alone and in a strange place (I live in Birmingham) and was hugely impressed with everything that was done for me. My surgery was done quickly, I had fantastic care by all the staff on the ward and was kept informed at all times about my progress. I cannot thank everyone enough for the caring and supportive way I was treated. It made a scary and unexpected situation much easier to bear. God bless the NHS.
