I attended day surgery in February, my anxiety was put at ease at my pre assessment a week before my operating, however the day of durgery was a nightmare, my allocated nurse was most uncaring, My surgery was painful after coming out of the operating, it was obvious it was the end of day so I must get up and be mobile to go home,I was the last patient. I reguested crutches which I was informed that I would need, my nurse commented, no not needed we dont have any, so a frame was found, no use when only one leg working, a pair of crutches was found, not out at correct height, complaints from nurse that I should have had physiotherapy, despite terrible pain and their atempts to give me pain relief, I said ive used them before,
I really dont know why this nurse is in this profession, no smiles, no care , no compassion shown at all, I couldn't wait to get home, if id known I would be treated in this manner,I would never have gone to this hospital as a day patient, awful experience
Brilliant care, well organised, super friendly team, from reception to anaesthesist and personal day nurse Jackie. Pre-op assessment was also straightforward and easy.
Only recommendation: free the cheese treats and crackers from their cellophane wrappers for patients still on needle and drip ;-)
I have to say what a good experience I had at Southlands in the Day Surgery unit.
One to one nursing attention, attention to detail absolutely first class. I could not fault anything.
I had an inguinal hernia op and am recovering well.
Thank you to all the staff, Angie, Amanda and all.

I have had two experiences of one day surgery. The care was extremely good during the day time, but both times I was not ready to be sent home the same day. I am waiting for TURP surgery, which I have requested as an inpatient in Worthing Hospital. Unfortunately, since January 2015.I have been sent two appointments for one day surgery and the pre-operative assessment is due on Monday 15.6.2015. I wrote to the Urology on the 18.5.2015 asking if my husband was on the waiting list to be admitted for this procedure. I have today, 13.6.2013, received a reply saying he is on the waiting list. I do not feel my heath in general would be up to one day surgery. Knowing I will eventually have the surgery in Worthing Hospital as an inpatient I wish to cancel the two appointments I have received. being Pre-operative assessment on Monday June 15 2015 and One day surgery on Thursday 02 July 20150.
My name is Terence Frank Williams. Hospital No.A63449 Telephone no.01903 830296.
Path lab disorganised and staff clearly do not enjoy their jobs. No privacy curtains between patients whilst having blood test and door left open where other patients can walk in and out.
I would like to thank all of the staff on the day surgery ward from the point of arrival to the time i left for their care and professional approach.
It was good to be processed in a timely manner and kept updated about what was to happen and when.
The discharge information was clear and well explained and I did not have to wait unnecessarily to be released.
Well Done.
I had a bunion operation on April 8th at 9 a.m. The operation was 2 hours. The anethaetists were excellent and made me feel at ease, checking me also every now again afterwards too. I cannot thank my nurse enough for the help she gave me. Her name was Hilary and was extremely attentive and was there as soon as we called her. She helped me relax and not worry too much. She even gave my husband a coffee while he waiting for me. My surgeon Dr Ansari was also very good. He went through the operation saying exactly what he was going to do, and answered any questions we had. When i left at 5pm, the nurse went through all my painkillers, hospital appts to come etc, and i was taken out to my car in a wheelchair. All in all, the staff were excellent and instead of being really worried about the operation, they made me relaxed.
I had surgery to release my ulna nerve in April 2015. I cannot thank the staff enough. Especially Karen on the day surgery ward and a massive thank you to Ben in theatre. Ben went above and beyond his services. He stayed passed his shift and saw me back to the ward and made sure I was pain free. 100% Service, kind nature and a value member of the theatre staff. THANK YOU p.s the surgery was successful . L. Brookes
